Current Info
The Allied States of Bambeaner is a huge, socially progressive nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Education, and Social Equality. Currently the largest military force in Pye any uprising against it is swiftly put down. The average income tax rate is 59%, and even higher for the wealthy. A robust private sector is led by the Beef-Based Agriculture, Soda Sales, and Trout Farming industries. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a problem. Bambeaner's national animal is the Tree Lamprey, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Shiggagoo.
History
Before Colonization
As far back as modern science can tell the Bambeanians were the only civilization to live in northern Pye. The earliest cave paintings (C 50,000 BCE), found south of Bambeanistan, suggest that the Bambeanian people had an understanding of the natural world way before any Renaissance culture.
During this time the land was filled with the small territory's on nomadic tribes. Power struggles over prominate geographical features were common, such as the contest over the Snow Spires Oracle.
Triffle conflicts occured for thousands of years, the first of many civil wars to be fought between the citizens of Bambeaner. Over time these wars forced many of the tribes to settle down and eventually form treaties and councils with former enemy's. This was the beginning of Bambeaner as a nation. Ever since this day the 3 largest tribes have reminded semi-autonomous, the Arareans, the Espartanos, and the Kaboses. The Bambeaneian flag has each of these tribes seals on it.
The First Colonists
In the year 1007 CE the first colonists to Pye began to arrive. The Oceanic peoples of the Golden Sails landed their boats on the shores of Pye, bringing the feared dragon to Pye. While most of the dragons stayed in or near the seafarers sphere of influence to feed, several mating pairs ventured out into the island of Pye. One such pair found its way to the Snow Spires in northern Bambeaner. The mythic Oracle and the town which housed it was consumed by its foretold "fiery and tasty doom".
After hearing of the demise of the most reveared Oracle in Bambeaner, the united tribes sent a group of its finest leaders to meet the new visitors that brought the dragons to their land. While the party was traveling to meet the new visitors great leaps in technology were occurring in order to prevent more deaths from dragons. Some of these inventions were the first space flights and orbital weapons platforms in Pye. One such platform The Святой Свет and her crew are credited with the protection of the developing Bambeanistan's 6 Million people.
After months of traversing the mountainous western Bambeaner, the group found themselves in the colonists city, Anvil. Quickly the leader of the colony was sought out and a meeting took place in the not-yet completed capitol building of Golden Sails. Unfortunately the records of this event were lost during the Ele0tnes offensive of 1337. It is known that quickly after their arrival they set back for Bambeanistan, with a trade agreement and the beginning of the Pyeesian Council.
Upon their return a full 3 years after their original departure they found the information they had sought was now void from advancing technology. The Святой Свет and other orbital platforms with assistance from a new space-based interceptor had managed to drive away the dragons from Bambeaner and into the Great Wastes in southern Pye.
