Christian Ruhasia was born in a rural village in the island of Vaa Enu, Tika Vanu. He is of minor chiefly rank, a fact which initially facilitated his entry into the fields of politics and diplomacy. His being a man was also an asset, since women are barred from active political duties in Tika Vanu.

At the age of 36, Ruhasia, at that point still a quiet traditionalist, was assigned to his country's embassy in Aqeyr, West Ariddia, as a junior diplomat. It was while in West Ariddia that Ruhasia, curious to learn more about foreign societies, happened to read several books on communist theory. He was quickly seduced, and, upon his return to Tika Vanu three years later, he surprised the government by founding the ni-Tika Vanu Communist Party. He subsequently organised several meetings and distributed pamphlets to explain communism to his fellow ni-Tika Vanu. In a highly conservative, theocratic society, his activities were frowned upon.

Ruhasia's Party has not been outlawed, but it has attracted very little support. Ruhasia himself has been jailed four times (never for more than six weeks) for "blasphemy" and "subversive activities". He continues to spread his message, curtailed by government censorship.

Ruhasia's is one of two main voices critical of ni-Tika Vanu society and laws. The other is that of young poet Jessica Tomda, whose work is banned in Tika Vanu. Ruhasia and Tomda have met twice, and the former has said he is a great admirer of the latter's work. They agree on many points, but Tomda has not joined Ruhasia's Party, as she has said she is not a communist.
