The Committee for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON / Comecon / CMEA / CEMA), founded on July 18, 2005, is an economic organization of socialist states in the The Sunbelt region equivalent to- but more inclusive than- many capitalist economic blocs and agreements. The military counterpart to the COMECON is the Yannsburg Pact.

The Committee for Mutual Economic Assistance should not be confused with the COMECON that is associated with the PEEL region.

Background

The COMECON was founded on July 18, 2005 by Caselonia, Cherisovia, Melbournistan, Palmbekistan and Yannia. President Vladimir Chistyakov's desire to exert Caselonian influence throughout the region and to weld the region's socialist states into a complimentary economic bloc were the primary factors in COMECON's formation.

Membership

The nations of Revionia and Taibei attended the conference in 2005 as well. Taibei chose not to become a signatory and while Revionia had initially agreed to become a signatory the delegation reported a reversal in policy immediately before signing. Revionia's government collapsed after a military coup shortly thereafter and the nation has entered a period of deep isolation.
