Comrade Martin, one of the most influential and memorable Communists in NationStates history, has had a large hand in many endeavors, both successful and failed, benevolent and infinitely malevolent. Comrade Martin is best characterized as a man with a calm and intelligent manner, although sometimes viewed as arrogant, overbearing, instrusive, and deceitful.

When Marturia was founded, Comrade Martin's first nation (replacing Marturia later was Marturia Central, followed by the current Marturia Centrale), it was placed in to Martin's own created region, Novistrana, Russian for "New nation." However, after being encouraged by Comrade Shane (of the The New Soviet State), Martin decided to leave the unsuccessful Novistrana behind and join Shane's region, the Peoples Revolutionary Party.

Comrade Martin in the PRP's Early Days

Comrade Martin had been appointed as the Commissar of General Affairs in the PRP, a "stool pidgeon" position in the eyes of some, as Martin was charged, as the CGA, with the responsibility of reporting potential problems to the Security Chief of the region, the founder, and handling the problems and questions of other PRP members.

The Soviet Union and PRP Changes

The Soviet Union, a relatively small and inactive region, had experienced a large outflux of refugees to the PRP, members of the SU tired of the Stalinistic policies of the SU's current leader joined the PRP and invaded the Soviet Union. The founder, Illogic Highway, was indifferent to the PRP, and largely stayed out of regional affairs for a long time.

Comrade Martin began fighting with Comrade Mikhail, at the time the head of the PRP's armed forces in the Soviet Union, over authority. Comrade Martin explained that the PRP's forces were still under his own jurisdiction as Party members, and that Mikhail himself was subordinate to Martin. Martin being subordinate to Shane. Mikhail angrily skipped Martin and asked Shane to intervene. Comrade Shane then demoted Martin, stripping him of his title and position in the PRP. Angrily, Martin fought back, encouraging PRP and SU members to support him in fighting Shane and Mikhail. After the protest trend grew, Shane backed down and Martin regained his position, under the new title of "Commissar of Extra-Regional PRP Affairs", and with limited authority in the PRP. However, this new position still placed Mikhail in a position subordinate to Martin, and as a result, Mikhail resigned as head of the PRP armed forces and as the delegate of the Soviet Union. Mikhail had helped the Soviets to obtain a membership of 50 nations, and is still remembered by some today as a great military leader who deserves much respect. Martin and Mikhail made up about a year later, and still talk infrequently outside of NationStates.

1969 and 1989 Anti Communist Alliances

The PRP's big military project: The invasion and toppling of the 1969 Anti Communist Alliance and its offspring region, the 1989 Anti Communist Alliance. Comrade Rhodesh of the ex-nation, Rhodri, was assigned the task of commanding PRP forces in the 1969 ACA. It was a flawless success, unfortunately, Rhodri ejected several nations from the region, resulting in his deletion. The PRP offensive mounted again, this time in to the 1989 ACA. Comrade General of the RKKA got wind of this and sent all available forces. He also rallied support for the PRP from around the NS Socialist world, and units from across the globe converged in the 1989 ACA. Martin's fame escalated as a result, and Comrade General invited the PRP, and the PRP-controlled Soviet Union, in to his alliance, the RKKA. The 1989 ACA invasion, however, was a failure, militarily. However, the PRP etablished a powerful spy ring in the 1989 ACA, which resulted in the election of Comrade Sebastian (a former Anti-Communist who was convinced that Socialism was correct thanks to the PRP intervention) of Reformed Stevonia in to the delegacy, where he announced that he had converted to Communism. He and his supporters were ejected, and the region faded in to obscurity in the months following. The 1969 ACA was regained by the PRP soon after the failure at the 1989 ACA, but was turned back over to the Capitalist Economic Organization (now ACCEL [Alliance of Capitalists, Conservatives, and Economic Libertarians]) one year later as a peace offering.

Back in the Soviet Union...

The replacement to Mikhail was the democratically elected Christina of Mora Tau, who was backed by the PRP as a chosen replacement, but was elected nonetheless. Christina ushered in a new era, with membership hitting heights never to be seen again of 70 members, and brought long-lasting alliances and democratic reforms in the SU government.

Christina retired after some months, and her replacement, Comica IV, held a referendum on PRP administration of the Soviet Union. During this time, Christina, still present in the SU, began fighting with Martin. The PRP had administered the Soviet Union and subjected it to various terms, one of which included the right of the PRP to remove unfavorable politicians, and Christina supported change from this. Fighting ensued for about a week until Doom Wolf, an apolitical troublemaker, led a coup in the SU to topple the SU government, and succeeded. However, DW was deleted for griefing the region (about 3/4 of the membership was ejected). Nazis, in collaboration with DW, invaded the SU in his place, fortifying the region in the name of National Socialism. The PRP sent all available forces, as did the RKKA. The Nazis were toppled, and Christina apologized for contributing to the downfall of the Comica government, which was promptly restored in spite of Comrade Martin's attempts at replacing Comica with New Al Sahla, a PRP-friendly candidate.

The referendum continued as planned. The membership voted, by a slim majority, in favor, and the PRP eliminated control of the SU. However, PRP governmental procedures lasted for months following the independence and were only recently modernized.

Various Ventures: RLA, RKKA, CEO, And MP

With the Red Liberty Alliance, Comrade Martin vehemently opposed RLA expansion in to RKKA regions, and fought alongside Cavalieriana, successfully defeating RKKA negotiations with the RLA and preventing RLA expansion. Later, Martin issued a public apology, against Cav's wishes, which started a new wave of discussions which also ended in failure, but re-opened the airwaves between the RLA and RKKA somewhat.

With the Capitalist Economic Organization, now the Alliance of Conservatives, Capitalists, and Economic Libertarians, Comrade Martin negotiated often with the CEO leader following the PRP invasion of The Exclusive Capitalizt Zone and the following turning over of TECZ to the CEO, and eventually brought peace along with Comrade Shane when the PRP turned over the 1969 ACA.

With the Maldov Pact, initial attempts at uniting it with the RKKA failed miserably, and had resulted in very tense relations and intense fighting. Martin, disobeying an RKKA edict to no longer represent the RKKA in the MP, was thought possibly to be held on trial for doing so, and has also recently admitted to espionage against the Marxist Leninist Party, an organization to which the PRP has a very confusing history, which resulted in a criminal trial in the Maldov Pact for espionage. Critics called this trial illegal, pointing to the fact that Comrade Martin was allowed no defense whatsoever in his own trial.

When the PRP issued a statement about its goals for the next month, broadcasting it in to the NBP, Comrade Christina reacted rashly without thinking, resulting in her deletion for spamming the PRP. Comrade Martin issued a military order for the PRP and, later, the RKKA to enter the region which Christina (the founder) had been removed from and to secure the leadership from Nazi subversion by endorsing the delegate, Kirov. Kirov, in a surprise move, announced the "throwing off of the shackles of Christina", and the PRP remained neutral on these events until its complete unilateral withdrawal from the NBP. These events sparked the complete collapse of the Maldov Pact, even in light of the return of the NBP to Christina (after much struggle with ICP leader, Brobin, who had refounded before Christina had a chance to when Kirov had issued the order that led to his demise: The ejection of the region's populace in lieu of a refounding.) The invasion of Vietnam also contributed to a decline in the MP, realizing its inability to protect its own borders. It still technically exists today, encompassing only a few regions, one of which being the Marxist Leninist Party, which effectively runs the MP on its own, in spite of its own declining activity and influence.

The Great October Convention and the NSCP

In October of 2005, Comrades Martin and Shane put forward an international initiative to form "one big region" for Socialism. Many regions attended, with many striking proposals and excellent resolutions.

The following regions participated in the merger:

  • Peoples Revolutionary Party
  • Red Federation
  • United Socialist Workers Party

Some nations from the following regions joined the merger:

  • Soviet Union (represented at the Socialist Convention)
  • International Communist Party (represented at the SC)
  • Marxist Alliance (observer at the SC)
  • The Motherland (not represented at the SC)

The following regions had representatives at the SC but decided not to join the merger:

  • The Socialist Village
  • The Che Guerillas

The following regions had observers only at the SC:

  • Marxist Alliance
  • Revolutionary Soviet Union
  • Soviet Kommunism

As large an international effort as it was, as noted, only a few regions actually agreed to join. But even so, the NSCP now embodies these formerly huge memberships with around 100 members.

The International Communist Party initially was the biggest joining member, but due to internal conflicts, Brobin destroyed his own region of around 70 members, leaving them in disarray and confusion, himself becoming a "Liberal Democrat" who, when engaged for debate, refuses to comment. One may assume Mr. Brobin has abandoned all politics.

The NSCP today is a very progressive region, keeping a generally static membership and very active government in the forums, in which government activity takes place, doing its best to form a stable government (a large amount of changes and reforms have been made since the founding, including the disassembling of the Central Committee and People's Council organs) and build international ties. Talk of forming a new international alliance is occuring.

Comrade Christina of the former Maldov Pact was a member for a long period of time in the NSCP, and made many successful legislative proposals. However, she decided to leave the NSCP using information that Comrades Martin and Shane claimed were "old" and "common knowledge" that she had simply used as a means to leave the Party. Comrade Martin, controversially and much to the chagrin of such loud Anti-Christina proponents as Comrade Sebastian (Leader of the Democratic Socialist Faction), announced support and heavy sympathy with Christina, mostly being ignored by NSCP members unsure of exactly how to respond.

The right to form Factions, currently guaranteed by the NSCP Constitution, led Martin to establish the once-hegemonic "Red Guard Faction" which deteriorated in its stance supporting the Central Committee and People's Council. It was replaced recently with the "NSCP Workers' Union" (NSCPWU) led by close affiliate, Comrade Shane, of which Martin is now a member. It was a challenger to the influential "Power to the People!" faction, known for its ethnic discrimination against former PRP members and its radical rethinking of party organisation. The PTTP! successes in destroying the Central Committee and People's Council (effectively achieving its objectives) led to the eventual disassembling of the PTTP! faction, and a number of their members actually joining the NSCPWU. Sometime later, another faction formed, the "Socialism, Democracy, and Ganja" Faction. The SDGF has sought to present itself also as an opposition faction to the NSCPWU, led principally by many of the Party's more "hard-line" and "authoritarian" elements. With a recent scandal involving NSCPWU founder Comrade Shane in addition to the dissolution of the DSF, the growth of the SDGF was almost inevitable.

Martin Today

Comrade Martin is presently the Secretary of Propaganda and Ideology for the NationStates Communist Party. The second elections for Chairmanship of the NSCP saw Martin's opponent, Lenin1924 of Hardened Leninists win by a fairly slim majority with the past election showing a similar trend. A tie occured between Martin and Lenin1924 which led to two run-off votes, in which Lenin1924 succeeded by only one vote.

Recent personal conflicts between Comrade Martin and Lenin1924 have led to a rife within the Party, in which members seem to be taking sides. Lenin1924's official announcement not to contend for another term as Chairman led to his endorsement of SDGF member (which Lenin1924 joined shortly thereafter) and Chairmanship candidate, Comrade Krochenko. Comrade Martin official declined to run against Krochenko as Chairman, citing the massive propaganda campaign instigated by Lenin1924, which he sees as unfair and an abuse of the Chairman's influential position. How events will unfold, no one is certain.

Internationally, Martin is working on diffusing difficulties with the Marxist Leninist Party once and for all to bring the two parties together although the MLP has, until very recently, been very silent on the matter.

The region Eurasia had, for some time, been printing defamatory articles particularly aimed at the Martin-Shane duo given to its previous influence in the PRP, which carried over in to contemporary conflicts with Christina, whom Eurasia has denounced totally. Thanks to the efforts of the NSCP as a whole and Eurasia, relations have been normalized and even joint operations have occured between the two.

His longtime grudge with the RLA also seems to be ending entirely, with EuroSoviets (a historical rival and enemy of Comrade Martin) speaking of terms of a treaty of comradeship between the NSCP and RLA thanks to Martin's persistance as a diplomat in the RLA. Joint military operations have occured in this time.

He recently completed a nearly 50-page autobiography recounting his history on NationStates to this point. It is available by E-Mailing him in request of it at Marx2Martin@aol.com.

His traditional forum avatar of him in a military uniform (with East German cap) in front of a Soviet flag in black and white, has been parodied on the NSCP forum by Crazyvichistan in playful jest as a means of conveying his ideological differences with Comrade Martin.
