Queen Cora Rastaban

Her Royal Majesty Queen Cora Julie Artemis Rastaban is the eldest daughter of Queen Julie III Rastaban and King David Henry Vaqles Rastaban (married 10 years till his death). She has one older brother by this same pairing, Prince Daniel David Rastaban. She also has two half siblings. Prince Dranon Lee Rastaban by her mother's second husband, King Cristoff Leroy Caze-sen Rastaban (married 2 years till his death), and Empress Cally Willamina Rastaban Mirmue of Athan (formerly Princess of Rastaban), daughter of Prince Al'ver Justuf Yfelle, Queen Julie's third and final husband, whom she was married to for fourteen years until her death June 10, 2003.

She was born in the New Avalonian Hospital in the summer of 1985. Her birth was not only celebrated by her mother, father, brother and grandmother but the whole nation. For after Queen Ev'lyn V died her eldest daughter (then Princess Julie) would take the throne. And the fact that Princess Julie had given birth to her own daughter, and one day heir was cause to celebrate. However just five months after see her granddaughter born Queen Ev'lyn passed away. By early January 1986, Julie was made Queen of Rastaban and David her Consort King. Cora was officially declared Heir Apparent. Then the family lost another beloved member, their own father and husband. His death stuck both the queen and her young son hard.

However Cora's mother was able to move on from loosing the love of her life two years later . She married a good friend of hers, Cristoff Caze-sen, who had help her deal with her loss. It was apparent to the people to the people that there wasn't going to be an epic love between them but he did honestly care for her, Prince Daniel, and Princess Cora. Shortly after marrying Queen Julie had another child, a son, by Cristoff whom they named Dranon. Once again the royal family was not able to enjoy happiness. Two years after Dranon's birth Cristoff died in a plane crash caused by uncertain circumstances. While Cora was not old enough to remember David's death, Cristoff's stuck the young girl hard as did her mother. The queen pulled herself and her children out from the spotlight. Prince Daniel and Princess Cora where put into private schools where the media nor anyone else could spy on them. Little was known what went inside the palace walls, save for Duchess L'aura Etian (the Queen's sister) and the New Avalon Flight stationed inside the palace's gates.

This why it was such a surprise when the Queen Julie, clearly more than a few months pregnant, married a low earl's son by the name of Al'ver Yfelle. Al'ver refused to take the name Rastaban and thus became a Prince Consort. In January 1990 Julie gave birth, once again, to a girl child named Cally. Prince Daniel took an instant dislike in his youngest sister while Cora and Dranon did not think the same. Two years later they began feeling the same way as Daniel when it became apparent that Julie adored this child above the others and gave her special treatment. Daniel, Cora and Dranon were pulled out of private school and entered the public school system, which the people beleaved at fist to be very honorable. This changed after Dranon was sent to public school when Cally was sent to a private school of a questionable background. When holidays came around Cora was sent with her elder brother to either visit their father's family while Dranon was often sent to fist Cristoff's family. And if the three weren't there they were sent to spend their time with the Etain family. Their mother hardly went with them for these visits. Meanwhile Cally stayed at the palace with her father and mother.

Such actions forced the three sibling to become very close and rely on each other. After grade schooling Cora choose to follow Daniel's footstep and attend a private secondary school by the name of Academy Lyceum Magikos. The nation's custom was for all secondary school to teach the basic form of magic all Rastabites possessed in addition to traditional schooling. It became very evident, very fast that Cora was gifted. Her teaches said her powers could very much rival those of her ancestor, Queen Iliana, who in every account they had on her said she was far beyond just gifted. It was no surprise then that the Dragon Air Force asked that the princess stand as an apprentice for an up coming birthing event. The Empress white dragon (who was not the queen's) have recently laid a nest with a hopeful white dragon egg. (Explanation: traditionally the heir apparent will be asked, regardless, to stand as an apprentice, more often than not they bond to a white dragon who therefore will become the next dragon Empress upon the heir's coronation. Queen Julie, however, bonded to a male purple dragon. See Rastaban's Native Creatures for more info.)

The nation was not surprised when Cora bonded to the little white dragon, who was Etana. That day was treated like a national holiday and parties all over were held. Queen Julie and Prince Al'ver were displeased however. In an interview after it happened the couple said they felt such an action would interrupt her school and could be interpreted as an act against her mother. It was not clear how the princess felt about such words for she didn't let her affect her. Despit the fact she had to train and take care of another being sharing her mind and soul with her she rose to the top of her class. Dranon joined her at Magikos a few years later and like his elder siblings was found to be very gifted.

In her last year at Magikos Queen Julie became rather ill. To make things worse Al'ver was trying to convince Julie to name Cally her heir. It was reported that such documentation to do such an act was drawn up, but never signed as the Queen died in June 2003, just days before Cora was due to graduate. One week later, having completed her schooling, Cora was made Queen of Rastaban and First Lady (aka leader) of the New Avalon Empress Wing, her own Etana becoming the Empress dragon.

Cora is the youngest queen to have ever ruled Rastaban. Her reign has not been made easy. Men placed as advisers, prior to Queen Julie's death by Prince Al'ver have tried to control the young queen. She has resisted their attempts to control her, especially when they tried to marry her off to someone not of her choice. Recently, Rastaban was in middle of a civil war created by Queen Cora's stepfather. He had hoped to place his own daughter, then Princess Cally, on the throne. Knowing that she would do what he wanted and thus rule the nation through her. This did not end well. Prince Al'ver was placed on Prison Island, along with his companions and conspirators. Later their immediate families were granted to live on the island with them. This act toward Al'ver is said to be the very same that drove the young Cally to flee from Rastaban.

It was of no heart ache to her sister, for the two never got along well, especially with Cally seeking her sister's throne constantly.

Her Majesty at this moment in time faces the long and daunting task of rebuilding her nation and looking allies to support her, should another action like this happen again. She also seeks a strong husband to stand by her, one that is willing to take the Rastaban name and become her king.
