Devon Land is a very ancient country, renowned for having been a democratic republic since first being written into history. It was founded by immigrants from the continent of Tycho searching for freedom from their oppressive governments.
After many years, they created their own language, ancient Devonian. An interesting fact about ancient Devonian is that the words "France" and "Cowards" are synonymous.
Devon Land often went to war with it's neighbors to the south and West, thus it had a legendary army, both disciplined and well equipped. Outposts were built high atop mountains and on the coasts to watch for invaders, and Devon Land's navy was one of the best known.
In more modern times, Devon Land has still been known for going to war, though less often than in the middle ages. It still maintains one of the regions greatest armies and navies, and has begun exploring space half a century ago. The first space rocket launched by Devon Land was the Italic textR.D.L. MarathonItalic text. Devon Land's first major military vessel to go into space was the R.D.L. Marathon II, a Nova I class Battlestar. Devon Land now has a space fleet of 5 Battlestars, 10 Starbuck class cruisers, 25 Campbell class Frigates, and 50 Simmons class destroyers.
