The Various Empires of Dhatsun is a massive, safe nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.982 billion are ruled by a single multinational company "Uetsi Incorporated" from the Government Level of the capital city, Midgon.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent company stops and the rest of society begins, but it successfully juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 60%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Gambling and Arms Manufacturing.

Marijuana is legal in the privacy of your own home, manual labourers must be willing to have cybernetic limbs to get a job, nudity is frowned upon, and tourists from around the world come to visit the country's famous rainforests. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Dhatsun's national animal is the Komodo Dragon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Sen

History

The Early Ages, 1500-1450BC

The Various Empires of Dhatsun is essentially a multitude of many small nations joined together some 1500 years ago. Under the control of a single warrior, the Great Warrior, the stronghold known as Datsai expanded its borders to overtake the surrounding strongholds and lands. This unknown warrior's brilliance as a strategist and his bravery in battle allowed the shoreside stronghold to bring the entirety of the lands now known as Dhatsun under its control, with the original stronghold of Datsai becoming the capital city, later renamed Midgon. All the strongholds he overthrew he then linked with an underground network; creating what would become the well known underground monorail systems, which recently linked to the Spectral Monorail system, under the operation of Calumnius.

The War of Scion, 1450-1445BC

The leader ruled without fear over his lands until his untimely death at the hands of an O Re Sa Maian at the start of the War of Scion. His death would be one of many in the war waged over lands on the eastern edge of modern day Dhatsun. The war itself began when O Re Sa Ma, desperate to expand due to its burgeoning popukation, decided to lay siege to the stronghold of Scion, where the Great Warrior of Dhatsun was residing due to illness. Led by the O Re Sa Maian General Tratos, the attack on the city was swift, and it was rapidly under the control, climaxed with the asassination of the Great Warrior.

Immidiately thrown into disarray, the control of Dhatsun was thought lost. Fortunately, the Great Warrior's second-in-command, Massen, was quick with his response. Slowly gathering troops from around the lands he amassed an army. AFter delivering one of the greatest recorded speeches in Dhatsanese history he initatated a strategic attack on what he knew to be the weakest part of Scion's fortifications, the battle of the White Staff. The attack was a caluculated one, and the O Re Sa Maians did not stand a chance, with only a few managing to escape through the port. This included General Tratos, who was determined to reclaim the land. This, however was not to be, as during an attempted raid on the city, he met his demise when confronted by Massen on a rooftop, after a short duel Tratos was run through with Massen's blade. With the invasion campaign leader's death, O Re Sa Ma withdrew its intentions to control Scion and surrendered its offshore fortifications. The War of Scion was over, and the Dragon Era began.

The Dragon Era 1455BC-55AD

With the threat of was over, The then acting-leader Massen was chosen to be given a more permanent position at the top, and a title to go with it. The first official Emperor of Dhatsun was born. As was the Dragon Era.

With Massen as Emperor, the empire went from strength to strength. Massen formed is closest friends and advisors into The Council, a group of individuals there to assist and advise any Emperor. The dragon banner was also first donned on the Emperors shield and from it, and from it the first flag of Dhatsun was formed. Records show that it was the right hand dragon found on the modern flag, with a dark-green background. Under the banner of the dragon, lands were fortified, and trade with the neighbouring lands of IKBTY and Mushy Pea was on the increase. When Massen died, his son and successor would continue his legacy crafting the Empire into a regional power that was to be respected.

The legacy of Massen's descendants continued for over 1500 years, until the death of the final descendant, Huma.

The Dark Era 55-100AD

The Empress Huma was a kind and thoughtful woman, dedicated to her people. She was much more concerned with each citizen in her own nation than to worry about the inceasing military threats of other nations. This enraged her most senior general, Eldor Thordan, Who plotted behind closed doors to remove Huma from power and usurp the Emperor's powers for the safety of Dhatsun. His plan was slowly brought together and one one fateful night, his plan was brought into the light. Huma was murdered in her bed, her palace guard slaughtered like lambs and a military coup began.

With Empress Huma dead, and no succersor named, Thordan seated himself at the throne and proclaimed himself Supreme Commander of The Dhatsanese Empire. Flying under the banner of a black horse, Dhatsun saw dark times, with many pointless wars fought in remote lands, far from what we now call the Spectrum. Thordan believed wholeheartedly in the Totalitarian State, and made this a possibility with his army, The Knights of the Twilight Horse. Believeing his subjects incapable, he rid himself of The Council when it objected to his invasion of the resy of the Spectrum. It was of course, the council, seeing what had become of Dhatsun and the further troubles it would face, decided something must be done.

Under the leadership of High Councillor Gabriel Stryfe, The Council confronted Thordan, who had become mad with power. The council wearned him of the dangers ahead and pleaded him to rethink his plan only to be arrested and put up for execution on the grounds of Treason. Councillor Stryfe was not yet out however, and with a snap of his fingers, guards from the nations of Mushy Pea, IKBTY, Daveanoyl Chloride and White-Rose appeared.

The councillor had the upper-hand, sensing the dangers of the war, he had personally spoken with the leaders of the four nations in the hopes of saving his own. The nations sent soldiers to the nation as a gesture of goodwill, in the interests of seeing a peaceful nation arise once more. Thordan was cornered.

In one last-ditch attempt at power he stabbed Gabriel Stryfe in the chest fatally wounding him. Stryfe did, however, survive long enough to see the scores of arrows perforate Thordan's body. The country's dark future had been averted, and the council took active control of Dhatsun, its first duties? A full-honours funeral for Gabriel Stryfe and, in accordance with his final wish, the return of the dragon flag. The Dark Era was over.

The Era of The Council 100-130AD

Without Gabriel Stryfe as its leader, the council decided the twelve members would have no leader, instead, they would each have a vote, and major decisions would be based on the results of their collective minds. This worked for a time of about 30 years, however, when certain controversial decisions had to be made, the council was literally six of one and half a dozen of the other. Without a leader things were simply not getting done. However there was no one who had the full backing of the council. A new leader had to be found.

The Second Era of the Dragon 130-1930AD

A young farmhand named Jack Carter would become the next ruler. Originally detined to live a quiet life in agriculture, a short battle with four asassins from Nintenduu 64 would put him in the sights of The Council. Sent to courier a delivery to his farming village from Midgon, Carter encountered four man garbed in black. Sensing sometrhing amiss, he followed them through the streets to a plaza in which eight council members were socialising. His eyes fixated upon the mysterious men, he noticed the slight movement of the asassin's arm towards his waist and, without thinking, struck the first man over the head. Nearby guards alerted to the action rushed to the scene, only to find three of the men unconscious and the other engaged in combat with the young Carter. After apprehension of the four men, the gravity of the incident became apparant. Carter had saved the nation from anarchy.

The act of saving a life generally puts the saved in good spirits with the one who saved them. This was no exception. Taken under the wing of one of the wiser councillors, Carter was trained in combat, and and encouraged to express his political opinions. Suddenly the golden boy in Midgon, it didn't take long for Carter to rise to the top. Strong-minded, he was able to with the hearts of the Dhatsanese public, eventually becoming part of the council he had once saved. After just fou years he was nominated to become the new leader of Dhatsun. The return of The Emperor, and the forming of the Knights of the Dragon.

Once again, an emperors bloodline would rule for more than a millenium.

The Modern Age - Uetsi Inc. 1930AD-Present Day

At the turn of the 20th Century the once great bloodline had faded. The Emperor, a wastrel. Ignorant of his nation, he spent his days living the high life in the palace. It was however, his extravagant life that cost him his heir, as his high-fatty diet and excessive smoking led to his impotence. Despite many attempts to artificially inseminate one of his many subjects, it was not to be. As a result, upon his death, no heir was named and the rule of the country was put into question.

With the council in temporary control of the nation, a new leader was once again needed. This was quicky found in the council chairman, Charles Onsei. Also the CEO of Uetsi Incorporated, the largest commercial business in Dhatsun, Onsei was a sharp and focussed man with an acute business sense. One of his first options upon appointment would prove to be his most controversial. As the majority of the Dhatsun Council was in fact, on the board of uetsi Inc. He would, in part, merge his company with the government, converting the colossal skyscraper on top of Midgon's Government Level into Uetsi HQ. This merge is shown on the flag of Dhatsun itself, with the dragon of ancient Dhatsun meeting the company logo, the left-hand dragon on the Dhatsun flag. The dual dragon flag, now declared to be a marriage of the modern and the ancient.

In a very Manchurian fashion, a single company was running an entire country. Fears of corruption were rife throughout the nation. However, Onsei managed to find a level ground between a commercial free-market paradise and at the same time, a safe country with healthcare and education high on the agenda. Initial doubts were quickly swayed by the improvement of life for the average citizen in Dhatsun, along with the increase in commercial enterprises. Onsei himself actively endorsing the creation of new businesses within the Spectral market.

Onsei is also a war veteran. His extensive war experience before becoming a tycoon has also made him an excellent strategist, resultantly, he commands the elite intelligence agency S.A.B.R.E.

Onsei is still at present, the CEO of Uetsi Inc. and therefore Commanding Officer of Dhatsun. It seems The Uetsi age has ushered a bright future for Dhatsun.

Culture

Only until very recently, Dhatsun has been somewhat the iron fist or compulsory consumerist states. The nation's GDP was held dear and the citizens were seen as faceless workers. However, within the last 20 or so years, thanks to civil rights activists, such as the famed Daniel Watson-Knox, and the new control of the CEO, the government took a massive U-turn, eradicating the high tariffs it was known for and introducing, among other things, minimum wages, healthcare and a revamped public transport system. The nation is now merely a free-market paradise, with concrete jungles and massive skyscrapers. Note, as of Feburary 2007 the economic growth is now being balanced by the first environmental act, so that business may contune to grow, yet not at the cost of the environment. The most commonly spoken languages in the region are English, Dhatsanese and Spectral. The recognised religions are The Church of Dhatsun, Catholicism, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and Gob-jobism.

Geography

Dhatsun is a large nation, fringed by the nations of Mushy Pea, Nintenduu 64 and Don Flanioso. Dhatsun has a large coastline, mostly cliff-faces, the largest of which being the Great Cliff, upon which the capital city of Midgon is built. Fringed with mountain ranges, there are no rivers above ground within Dhatsun. Instead, underground rivers and colossal caverns are to be found. The highest point of Dhatsun is Ara Peak, part of the Illeon Mountains, in which the second city Lossoria is found.

Role Within The Spectrum

As one of the oldest and most powerful nations within the Spectrum, Dhatsun was chosen to be a member of the Spectrum Security Council. Dhatsun is also one of the four founding members of the Spectral Alliance Treaty Organisation (S.A.T.O). The nation also takes an active stance on the Ediroth conflict and terror situation, primarily through its central intelligence agency, S.A.B.R.E. It also acts as a major shipping port and a converging point for many of the major shipping routes within the Spectrum via the ports of its capital, Midgon.
