Ferretton - A Brief History
The United Socialist States of Ferretton was founded in 1912 after the Great People's Rebellion of 1911. Before that, the island of Ferretton was mainly made up of warring capitalist city-states. When the citizens of Portland, Boston, Worcester, Providence, Hartford, and Concord got together and overthrew their dictators, they decided to form a united nation dedicated to taking care of its people and not allowing corporations to blind the people. Because of the Great Purge of 1920, all names (except for that of the island itself) have been changed. The people of Ferretton now live lives of bliss, knowing that the government takes care of their every necessity.
Geography
The United Socialist States of Ferretton are located on an island in the upper-left area of the Alliance of Socialist States. Its closest neibhour is its sister-nation, the Free Land of Entrenza. The southern half of the island is temperate and low, with winters that last from the months of November to February. The centre of Ferretton is mountainous and, until 25 years ago, sparcely inhabited. The northern part of Ferretton is hilly and mild, with no real winter and a record low of 14,4C.
The major cities are the capital city of Christopgrad (formerly Worcester) in the South, Stalingrad (formerly Providence) in the Southeast, Leningrad (formerly Boston) in the Northeast, Taimisgrad (formerly Hartford) in the North, and Daningrad (former Concord) in the centre.

Although religion freedom is granted by the government, it is in no way funded by the government and is not tax-exempt. However, the government encourages people not to fall under the sway of religion or attend church services and usually holds free concerts, starring Ferretton's favourites, in all major cities Friday-Sunday.
Government
The Ferrettonian government is run by Premier Robbins, great great great grandson of Premier DiPrezzi, the first-ever Premier of the United Socialist States of Ferretton. Currently, the Parliament of Ferretton is divided by 90% Democratic Socialist, 9% Communist, and 1% Socialist. The people elect the Premier, members of Parliament, and all judges. Members of Parliament are limited to 6-year terms, with an infinite number of terms. The Premier is elected for life, but the people can make a vote of "no confidence" at any time if there is a majority of at least 60%. Judges are elected for life, but can be ousted by the Premier or Parliament.
The United Socialist States of Ferretton is made up of six regions:
Christopgrad - The capital region
Trotskyana - The Southern region of Ferretton, which surrounds the capital city. The major city of Stalingrad is in this region.
Engelston - The centre of Ferretton, contains the major city of Daningrad. A popular vacation destination.
Traskanya - The Northwest region of Ferretton, containing mainly small towns and villages. Mostly where the anti-social and pro-religion sects live.
Angleia - The Northeast region of Ferretton, contains the major city of Leningrad. Very patriotic part of Ferretton and another popular vacation destination, mainly for the college-aged crowd.
Entrenza - Island neibhour to the west. Although independent from Ferretton, Entrenza has a close relationship with Ferretton. Citizens of Entrenza are treated as if they were citizens of Ferretton, and recieve the same benefits. Economically, there is a free trade agreement in place.
Military
Although the United Socialist States of Ferretton is a peace-loving nation, it is necessary to keep an armed forces for the defence of the USSF and the Free Land of Entrenza. While the full strength of the armed forces is unknown, Ferretton, being an island nation, has an excellent navy and airforce rivalling that of most nations within the AoSS. The Ferretton People's Army is sworn to protect Ferretton, Entrenza, and all nations of the AoSS.
Economy
The United Socialist States of Ferretton maintains a prosperous, diverse economy while keeping the capitalist warmongers at bay. Private enterpise is illegal and all business is state-owned.
