Greyenivol Colony is the name commonly given to the state found in the north-west of the largest continent on Alpha Centurai IV. The territory is part of the Homoa (Earth)-based Denationalised Zone, (DNZ), a massive Anarchist organisation that claims de facto authority over approximately two fifths of the Earth's surface.
History
Geographical evidence points to the planet being terraformed just over 1.6 million years ago, and it became colonised soon afterward.
The first modern colonies in the regions were the Petryan Grè'èn Colony, (founded 1281 Homoan Calendarrr), and the Ampuan Nievol Colony, (founded 1301 Homoan Calendar), these early colonies specialised in agriculture and forestry.
During the 1477-1520 Wars of Conversion, the planet was built upon more heavily for use as a strategic military location, as the expansionist Holy Athigian Empire widened its control many governments-in-exile relocated to Alpha Centurai IV. However in 1519, the planet fell to the Empire, and remained occupied for over 80 years.
In the 1600's the Empire began to pull out of the region, and Petrya and Ampua quickly reclaimed their former colonies, as well as Etalia and Gāmgā, the post-imperialist emerging powers, who also claimed territories in modern Greyenivol Colony. However, years of climate missmanage under the war governments and subsequently Empire left the Greyenivol region with an enviroment unsuitable for agriculture or comfortable living conditions, so in 1615 Petrya granted Grè'èn its independence. Nievol was granted independence shortly afterwards.
The Gāmgāns attempted to grab the land of these independent states as soon as their masters left the planet. However, the land grab was not as simple as suspected, the Greyenese and Nivolians formed an alliance and fought a long guerilla war against the Gāmgāns. The conflict occassionally burst into the Etalian colony, Meuyormypf, and in 1621 the Etalians pulled out of the region, the indigenous Meuyormians joined the alliance to fight against the Gāmgāns. By this time, it became obvious that Gāmgā could not win this war, but the conflict stubbornly continued untill 1679, when the Gāmgāns finally withdrew.
In the 1680's, the region was desolate and war-torn, but united. In 1683 the Constitution of the Greyenivolese Union was signed, creating a democratic federation in the area. From this date the new state, mostly ignored by the large multi-planetary powers, began to rebuild and to grow.
By the 1750's, the Greyenivolese Union, which by now had adopted the unofficial name of Greyenivol Colony (which had started off as a deregotary term refering to the state's subservience and lack of a racial majority, but was eventually reclaimed and used as a source of ironic pride), was a stable democratic state with normalised relations with all powers in the stellar region.
From this time to the year 2010, 24 new states are admitted into the Union, including Periclea, the first extra-Solar Homoan settlement. This link was very important to Homoa, which was not yet recognised by most multi-planatary states, as it gave the Homoan people a foothold in outer space. And ultimately was the link that allowed DNZ-Anarchism to spread outside of Homoa.
Adoption of DNZ-Anarchism
Ever since the founding of the Periclean Colony in the saline plains east of Greyenivol Colony, the Greyenivolese have been fascinated by Homoan culture. Homoan restaurants could soon be found all over the Union, it became so popular that by 2019 the gyro kebab had been named the National dish. Homoan influences were also to be found in Greyenivolese art, drama and even language. From 2012-22 the Homoan population in Greyenivol increased by 5000%.
In 2019 the Denationalist Party of Greyenivol Colony was founded, strongly influenced by the Denationalist Movement of Homoa which had emerged out of the chaos of the 2010's. The party was majorly side-lined and was viewed in many circles as a joke, but yet it still was gaining electoral support. Then, in 2037, under the leadership of Georgias Pheranaikos, the party managed to shake off the stigma of being a Homoan-only party and acheived the success of forming the official Opposition.
In 2042, Huenyua Iliguuwua became Greyenivolese President as leader of the party, his pledges were to rebuild the flailing starshipbuilding industry, invest more into climate improvement technology, modernise the health service and foster closer relations with the DNZ, which by this time had economically surpassed Greyenivol Colony.
In 2050, then President Oilèrà Pretöyynà officially signed away Greyenivol Colony's sovereignty. His new role was as Special Executive to Greyenivol Colony, this post was selected by the Governing Council of Denationalism on Homoa, and Pretöyynà is likely to fill it untill such a point when he chooses to retire. Citizens of Greyenivol Colony are permitted to vote in General Elections for the DNZ Governing Council, which, unlike many traditional ballots do not involve the ticking of the box next to a name, rather the polling process includes an in depth political questionaire, of both topical and ideological issues, upon completing the questionaire a representative from within the Denationalist Party is chosen according to how far his own views correspond with those of the electorate.
In addition, Greyenivolese citizens may use traditional personal balloteering to select the members of a Greyenivolese Assembley, which has mostly figurative powers.
