History

Formerly the Republic of Toraria, a fairly democratic nation with a middling economy and a reputation for athletic excellence, the Supreme Hegemony of HUNTER A Bettik has resulted from the creation of HUNTER Corp in 1976.

Specializing in the training and equipping of some of the finest mercenaries in the world, HUNTER Corp revitalized the Torarian economy, but it also gained control of the nation's economy, giving them potent political sway as well as the control of the military. When HUNTER Corp purchased the thriving Sanderson Uranium Mines at gunpoint, it was the end of Toraria.

While HUNTER Corp was kept a separate entity from the government, the greatest of its trainees, A Bettik, received massive support from the populace for his excellent military work and for the fact that there was no opposition to HUNTER Corp.

Economy

However, A Bettik, now in his middle thirties, is little like the puppet that HUNTER Corp had thought to have when they had helped place him in power. A Bettik is an incredibly gifted military and economic strategist, helping to diversify the economy of the nation he renamed for himself. The people consented to this near-dictatorship being placed upon them since A Bettik has been the greatest ruler ever of this great land. He has exponentially grown both the economy and the military through the recent explosion of the mercenary market and the steady reliance of other Wysterian nations on Bettikan Uranium.

Geography

A Bettik's elite HUNTER mercenaries are produced at the massive HUNTER Academy, located at the foot of the Veridian Mountains, the Krada Forest, and the juncture of the Ceros and Eripta Rivers. It covers many different terrains, the better to train soldiers in.

Where the Ceros River meets the sea lies the massive port city of Sortari, the headquarters of the HUNTER navy and the main trade artery of HUNTER A Bettik, exporting HUNTER Corp's products in increasingly large numbers and importing fine manufactured goods.

In the southeast of HUNTER A Bettik, on the upper edge of the Barrier Desert lies the industrial center of Polonia, headquarters of HUNTER Uranium Delvings, who have mines throughout the desert and the eastern edge of the mountains.

Located in the Veridian Mountains, the capital city of Andarus is the base of most of HUNTER Corp's enterprises and is a veritable stronghold, with both HUNTER corporate security and the national army, consisting in part of unassigned HUNTERs, patrolling the area.

In the western agricultural center of Unseln, much of the food of HUNTER A Bettik is produced, and the air force is located there.

The coastline consists of industrial and military cities on the four spears that point westward. On the uppermost is Bonespear, noted for the toughness and work ethic of its populace (and their odd lilting accent).

Next is Bloodspear, famous for the beauty and passion of its inhabitants...said to be the liberal bastion of HUNTER A Bettik.

Third is the financial center of Sunspear, the wealthiest city per capita in the country. There are noted feuds between several banking guilds in Sunspear, several of which have involved HUNTERs on one side (HUNTERs won't fight each other--they're a moral sort of mercenary).

Southernmost is the famed Falconspear, noted for the national animal that frequents the cliffs outside the city. Since it's occupation in 1823, Falconspear has disrupted the country, often clamoring for independence. It is the most populous of the states and contains the most fertile agricultural land in the country. Falconspear strawberries are considered a superior delicacy throughout.

Foreign Policy

HUNTER A Bettik has developed a policy of indifference to international politics, at least if there are no military defense contracts to be had. It has generally kept quite a low profile while creating a booming economy and massive military.

Domestic Policy

HUNTER A Bettik is also a very thrifty government, offering no social welfare, no budget for prisons (serious offenders are executed), and little for transportation, thus the infrastructure of the country is slightly lacking...the resources are there, but the will to spend is not. However, a sufficiently lucrative offer from a foreign power might sway the government.

People

Bettikans are fiercely nationalistic, militaristic people by nature. They are also generally distrustful of foreigners, especially those from other Wysterian continents, but are generally honest and trustworthy, beneath their gruff, hard-nosed demeanor. They are extremely industrious, and are very self-reliant on the whole. They are somewhat religious, primarily Christian, though they seldom let that get in the way of their personal morals.
