The Kingdom of Hidaya Miliki is a consolidated nation of 3 distinctive peoples. The Chagina Peoples, the Erevusha Peoples and the Tiifu Peoples. At one time, they were united under a royal family that consisted of many members of all the three tribes. It was almost by convention that the three peoples lived in peace for many centuries. Eventually racial tensions between the three groups built up until the Kingdom was fractured into three states. Eventually it was the Mubarak Dynasty that solidified control once again. The name Hidaya Miliki is "Beautiful Land" in Swahili, which is an understatement for the natural beauty of the nation.

Recent History

The Kingdom of Kidaya Miliki has had a troublesome past. With 100 million within its tiny borders, the nation is densely populated. The three peoples, the Chagina, Erevusha and Tiifu. When the Mubarak Dynasty took control, they were members of the Chagina Tribe. Driving the nation into debt with use of blackmail, theft and extortion, the Mubarak Chagina were the first and foremost militant force who followed King Mubarak I. Under his leadership the violence of the Mubarak Chagina succeeded in seizing control of the other territories of the Tiifu and the Erevusha, who were immediately subject to an absolute monarchy, under Mubarak I. With Mubarak I's leadership, the Erevusha and the Tiifu were second-class citizens born to a racist class society where the Chagina were superior and given extrordinary rights while the other two tribes were subject to hostile racist laws.

The moderate Chagina, who formed a near majority of the Chagina population were deeply sympathetic to the other two tribes, conspired to form an underground movement destined to bring democracy and freedom to all peoples of Kidaya Miliki. It was during the reigh of King Mubarak III, that in order to impress foreign nations, he allowed the puppet Bunge or Parliament, to issue resolutions that stated that the nation was moving progressively and that more and more rights were being passed to the other tribes, while in truth there was no assisting the situation.

Over the course of the monarchy, and more than 120 years of oppression, the Mbomoshi Movement was formed to bring revolution to the nation. The Mubarak Chagina and the Mbomoshi began skirmishes throughout the countryside, as the King, Mubarak IV issued orders for martial law, arresting anyone suspected of assisting the Mbomoshi in anyway. Holding families hostage and confiscating property, the Mubarak Chagina and the Kidayan Army controled everything from food production to the media, spreading their radical propaganda throughout the nation. King Mubarak IV ruled with absolute power and dissolved The Bunge. The Iron Era of Mubarak the IV had begun

The Iron Era

Mubarak IV installed puppet politicians into The Bunge, and mass conscript any loyal Chagina into the Army. The once fanatical Mubarak Chagina were made into his secret police and Mubarak IV moved to install even more power than his predecessors. Believing that the insurrections of the past were now just faded memories, Mubarak IV attempted to re-write history. All university professors were questioned and those who had opposition to the regieme were arrested and imprisoned. Some of the professors were even executed to prove as examples for others to be warned. Mubarak IV "modernized" the constitution and created one based on his own ideas, forever outlawing any non-Chagina to hold government office, own property, and leaving the nation. Mubarak IV may have ordered more than 2 million people to their deaths by his brutalistic rule. These deaths do not include those of "rebellion insurcencies". Though he had control of the nation, the Mbomoshi were still around.

A Mbomoshi assasin nearly succeeded in assasinating Mubarak IV during a banquet with his most loyal supporters with a bomb, but Mubarak IV escaped. However out of the 2000 guests, more than 150 were killed. This only gave Mubarak IV an excuse to round up even moderate sympathizers of his own government to be executed.

Famine, Disease, Flooding

On top of the already brutalistic regieme of Mubarak IV, famine and disease were widespread. It is estimated than 200,000 people died within 10 years from lack of food, malnourishment and scurvy and widespread sickness. When the drouts finally did end, a record rainfall flooded riverbanks and displayed thousands of peoples. Villages were swept away while the Royal Family lived in sheltered palaces. It was this mass of tragedies that finally the government allowed some NGO's to enter the nation, but news was getting out fast.

Government

  • The King: Absolute Power is set within the King's hands in practice but in official statements, the King acts on advise from his Council of Ministers, lead by the Prime Minister.
  • Prime Minister: The highest official with political power in the Hidaya Miliki, but in truth has all decisions approved by the King. Under Mubarak IV, the Prime Ministership was reduced to nothing more than an official spokesman for the King. More favorable Prime Ministers have acted as main overseers for the King for the nations workings on a day to day basis.

  • Council of Ministers: The ministers responsible for running the main functions of the government.
  • The Bunge: The legislative branch of the Hidaya Miliki government. In his "reforms" Mubarak IV enlarged The Bunge to 1200 seats, 400 for the Chagina, 400 fo the Tiffu and 400 for the Erevusha. After the reforms, in practice, all seats were occuped by Pro-Mubarak Chagina puppets. Eventually, wanting to save money for himself, Mubarak IV dissolved The Bunge. All of the pay for the 1200 legislators were funneled to Mubarak IV's private fund.

Tribal Groups

The divisions of the three tribal groups was created by the the first tribal leaders. Ages ago they valued three specific qualities: Bravery, Loyalty and Wisdom. At one time, these qualities were infused in a near caste system. The Chagina were a warrior class, the Tiify were the farmers and the labourers, while the Erevusha were the merchants and bureaucrats. Over the course of centuries the tribal groups eventually lost touch with the ancient castes and the names became simply names. It was not until the unification of the three tribes that the names were once again used. For a time before that, they were simply known as the Akina, or The People.

The Chagina

  • "Chagina" is Swahili for "Brave".
  • Population: 50 million

The Chagina are the smallest tribe in terms of population but they control more than 70% of the wealth of the nation. 100% of the government is composed of Chagina as well as the military and chief wealthy citizens. Through institutionalized racism by the Mubarak Dynasty, the Chagina have prospered. It is important to note than less than half of the Chagina actually support Mubarak a fellow Chagina. Secret sources estimate that maybe only 8 million of the Chagina are actually loyal to Mubarak while the others do live in fear.

Political divisions amongst the Chagina are strong. The Mubarak Chagina support the King, the Mbomoshi Chagina are opposed to the king. Amongst the Mbomoshi Chagina themselves who opposed Mubarak IV, it is estimated 200,000 were executed, murdered or killed.

The Tiifu

  • "Tiifu" is Swahili for "Loyal"
  • Population: 30 million

The Tiffu people have suffred significantly at the hands of their Mubarak Chagina rulers. Because of their poor situation they are helplessly exploited by the Mubarak Chagina. Their culture was the first to be systematically exterminated, their language eliminated while they were forced to speak only in Chagina dialects. Their cultural fashions and weaving techniques have been world famous. The Tiffu refugees that fled across the Xheng border brought news of the horrific events of their nation to the outside world.

The Tiffu are half of the entire Hidaya Miliki population and thus they have been the greatest threat to the Mubarak Chagina. It is estimated by NGO's that more than 1.2 million Tiifu were systematically exterminated.

The Erevusha

  • "Erevusha" is Swahili for "Wise"
  • Population: 20 million

For centuries, the Erevusha were known as a merchant class. Erevushan traders have traded with countless nations during an era before formation of actual nation states. There are some of the Erevushan who have been sympathizers or conspirators with the Mubarak Chagina. The Erevusha control 20% of the wealth of the nation as they have remained in the business world, having to rely on bribes and generous gifts to the King to allow for their automomy. There Erevusha leadership attempts to remain neutral between the tragedies of the war but are finding it more and more difficult not to take sides. Within the Erevusha community there is extreme resentment and hostility to Mubarak IV and his thugs. The Erevusha wish to prosper in business and trade but with the nation locked within its own borders, they are forbidden to foreign investments. All foreign aide pours directly into Mubarak IV's own pockets.

The Erevusha have begun to funnel their money to the Tiffu and the Mbomoshi Chagina to support the Mbomoshi movement. Their support was key to assisting the revolution.

Organizations

  • Mubarak Chagina: The followers of Mubarak are the most fanatical and radical of the Chagina who are fiercely loyal to their king and often are rewarded for their loyalty. By demostrating generocity to his loyal followers, the King attempts to encourage more to join him through his method of bribes and extortion. Others are forced into loyal service by threats of death. The Mubarak Chagina was at once time just an unofficial affiliation but since the coronation of King Mubarak IV, it was formed into an official secret police force, with many of his most loyal officials acting as dictators of townships, villages and cities with unquestionable power over the life and death of its citizens.
  • Mbomoshi: Refered to simply as Revolutionaries, the Mbomoshi are rebels who seek to end the tyranny of the Mubarak Dynasty. The Mbomoshi is said to vastly outnumber the Hidaya Miliki Army in manpower but equipment and weapons are more difficult to come by. The Mbomoshi itself is composed of thousands of small cells and regional groups that fight and oppose the Mubarak Chagina in anyway possible from power outages to outright attacks against the King.
  • Mbomoshi Chagina: Chagina Tribal people who support the Mbomoshi and oppose the King and the Mubarak Chagina. Their support is povital to the assistance of the Revolutionaries.
  • The Hidaya Miliki Army: The Government Army of the Mubarak Dynasty is the main defense force of the nation. Through mass recruitment of Chaginas into their ranks the Mubarak Chagina uses its own influence to maintain loyalty and elimnate descention within the ranks. Because of the equipment and funding to the army, it is the most formidable armed force within the nation. In comparison to other nations it recieved a huge military budget, nearly a quarter of Hidaya Miliki's entire GDP is sent to the army. The King is also the commander and chief of the armed forces.
  • The Hidaya Miliki Airforce: A small contengient of foreign purchased fighters and light bombers consist of the airforce. It is relatively pittiful and is supported by 200 helicopters. Since the Revolutionaries lack any sort of air power, there is no need for an airforce within its borders.
  • The Akina: "The People" in the native Swahili language. The Akina is what the people of Hidaya Miliki call themselves, outside their tribal divisions. It was originally the Chagina themselves who began to impose the old tribal names back to the groups, in some defiance, the term Akina was used as a rallying call for all peoples in Hiday Miliki as there was no difference between them, and that they were all people.

OOC Trivia

  • The Flag for the nation is the flag for the Central African Empire, a short lived monarchy in Africa.
  • Much of the history of the nation is based on the tragedies of the Rwandan Genocide.

The Akina Republic

The anti-Mubarak sentiments of the Akina Genocide left a brutal scar on the ethical and political relevance of a monarchy. The Movements of the Akina people have seen that monarchies are corruptive and abusive of power.
