Hyrule is one of the largest player-created regions in NationStates, with 304 nations. It is based off of the fictional land in the Legend of Zelda video game series. The region is open, welcoming nations of all kinds, regardless of political ideologies. Hyrule is allied with the regions of Aberdeen and Futaba Aoi.

History

The Creation

The region of Hyrule was formed by the three godesses Din, Nayru, and Farore. It is widely believed that these three goddeses were created themselves by an ultimate being known only as the Supreme Creator.

According to legend, Din created the physical geography of the realm, Farore created the flora and fauna, and Nayru gave the laws of physics to the realm. Once the goddesses had completed their tasks, they departed for the heavens, and left behind them three golden triangles. Into these, they gave their power to govern all things; this became known as the Triforce.

NationStates History

2004

The region was founded sometime in early 2004 (date not known) by Kholint, and a small group of active Zelda fans also came along to join. During this period, Hyrule was seeking to establish relations with the now-defunct region of Termina.

Sometime during Kholint's delegacy, an invader group tried to take over, but due to the griefing of the telegram box, were deleted. Kholint, and many other nations, dissappeared soon after, and on 30 June, 2004, Tri-Hylians became the regional delegate.

From then on, Hyrule remained a peaceful region, with the occasional nation coming in. During this year, the largest amount of nations at one time was 35. Hyrule remained peaceful for the remainder of the year.

2005

The First Half

During the first three months of 2005, Hyrule still maintained the peace it did during 2004. Forums and a map were created during the end of March 2005, however they weren't used much in the beginning. Due to mass die-offs, however, the region mostly declined in population until about April 9th.

That date is when the recruitment drive was started. Throughout April and May, over 60 nations came to Hyrule since the start of recruitment.

On April 14th, Tri-Hylians's reign as delegate ended, being delegate for 288 days. On that day, The Spotteddick, a native who helped to turn our region around, became delegate, although he immediately resigned. Tri-Hylians became delegate for a brief period of time, until April 22.

During this time is also when our first embassy, with the Allied Union of Nations was established, after the Snowflake registered at our forums to research the region and to establish contact.

On April 22, 2005, Hyrule was invaded by nations of the now-defunct region Cotham and Cakeland. At around 4:00 AM EST the following day, the leader, Marionettles, usurped the delegate posistion, and ejected the former delegate and other nations. This inspired great amounts of anti-foriegn sentiments within the Hyrule community, although the invaders did say they would leave April 27th.

With the help of regional counter-invasion groups, the forces of Marionettles were expelled from Hyrule on April 24, and a defender delegate (Toodeloo) became the regional delegate for one day. With the help of natives to ensure a smooth transistion back to normalcy, the defenders along with natives endorsed Ness Snorlaxia, the delegate chosen on an off-site poll.

After the invasion, the regional recruitment drive was re-started. Early May was also when we started voting on regional symbols and establishing our first government. Embassies with Q102 and Aberdeen were also established.

The founder, Kholint, was revived during late May 2005, much to the happiness of others, and is one of the monumental events of Hyrule. Many people were glad to have him back.

The Second Half

June was basically a "slump" month for Hyrule, as we entered a recession during the beginning and middle of the month. June was also a month for change, as the basis for the law of the region was established. That month was also when Hyrule became allied with Aberdeen and established foreign relations with Futaba Aoi. It also marked low voter turnout in UN resolutions.

By the end of the month, the regional recruitment drive was put into full force, and the massive amounts of recruiting boosted the region's population over 100 for the first time - another monumental event.

July, however, was a better month for Hyrule, as the region recovered wonderfully. The beginning of the month saw the region's population go up to a high of 140 nations and the establisment of embassies in the Federation of Allied Nations and Scroll Islands. It also saw increased activity on the offsite forum and map. The other half of the month was pretty much the same, the region still was showing growth. Two major things happened, though: The first was that Kholint ceased to exist, again, due to inactivity. The second was the region's second alliance, with the region Futaba Aoi. The remainder of the month went well, with the opening of an embassy with the Allied States of EuroIslanders later in the month, and another massive recruitment drive pushing the region to the 190 mark, and a high voter turnout in UN resolutions.

August started off with the region surging past the 200 nations mark on August 1. The next day, the population went up even more, and it also saw Ness Snorlaxia's 100th day of being delegate. Voter turnout for UN resolutions were also pretty high. On August 21, the region hit another high of 300 nations.

Foreign Affairs

Ever since May of 2005, one of the region's priorities is establishing foreign contact. As of 24 July, 2005, Hyrule has embassies or consulates in the following regions:
