Iesus Christi is a leading Catholic nation in The Reich known for its persecution of non-humans (whom they call metahumans).

History

The nation now known as Iesus Christi has a history going back millennia, however the history of Christian IC goes back to the 10th century, when Celtic missionaries led by St. Finbarr evangelized the various warlords ruling the quasi-Gaelic land. They warlords remained divided, however, until the Crusades when they all decided to unite into one nation, which they called Iesus Christi, under one monarch.

The next significant event in Iesus history was the St. Dominic crusade. Around the time of the Reformation, the kingdom of Iesus Christi waged a generations-long war with its southern areas, which still remained pagan. Finally, the last cheiftain of the south surrendered to the knights of Iesus and the land became known as St. Dominic due to the influential Dominican missionaries following the knights into the area.

After this, Iesus liberalized while still remaining faithfully Catholic. Elves gained significant influence in Iesus society, slavery was abolished and Protestantism legalized, yet the nation by and large stayed faithful to Rome and the monarchy began its patronage of the Church.

World War I would change all that, however. Though the country entered on the side of the Allies, its military record in the conflict was marked with devestation and defeat. Following the war came mismanagement, chaos and anarchy, with the monarchy doing nothing to combat it.

When the king of Iesus did try to combat it, he came under the sway of Marxism and implemented several radical leftist-leaning and anti-Catholic ordinances. (More to come)

Iesus today

Education: "The Iesus leadership appreciate the difficulty of indoctrinating the older generation....They are more tainted by the past....We must be determined to mold the new generation along Nationalist Humanpure lines. We must control the youth, those who have the youth on their side control the future" General Matthew Iesus Snr. Speech to the Generals.

The fascist government of Iesus Christi has taken intense interest in Education since their takeover. Under a policy of Change the children first the Iesus government has had amazing results in creating a obedient populace. The basis for all curriculums in Iesus is the Catholic Faith(or atleast the regimes interpretation of it) and Nationalist ideology.

Today the Ministry of Art and Education is lead by Max Greal. A devoted fascist, he continues to refine the national education system to ensure loyalty to the Regime and its ideals. Under the Blood and honour laws all teachers must be of the highest 'Racial and ideology" standards and registered with the Ministry of Social order

Resistance The fascist revolution in Iesus Christi in the mid 20th century was a massive defeat for secular and democratic Iesus. It meant not only a loss of political freedom, but soon would lead to savage attacks on the people’s living standard and mentality. Years after the revolution these attacks on the living standards have reached a new level of cruelty as the Ministry of Social Order under the control of Bridgette Iesus seeks to cement its authority.

It is strange that in the years following the revolution that there was no real organisation to take up the struggle. During the initial bloodless coup all the political parties except the communists had, in their majority, supported the Revolutionary officers or at least remained silent. Then, when the blood flowed in the streets as Army radicals took change, it was too late to formulated an organised opposition to the fascists.

Thus it is not so surprising that the first acts of resistance came from isolated individuals. Some of the first acts of resistance happened even as violence became apparent… Several labourers cut telephone lines and others distributed crudely made leaflets denouncing the new military government. These actions were quickly punished with deat-the first of many martyrs to come. It was soon apparent to everyone the Fascists weren’t going to except civil disobedience…yet these acts were rare and sporadic in the early days of the fascist revolution. The country longed for stability in the wake of turmoil, poverty and near starvation…in those early days many people chose to ignore the growing injustice rather than oppose it. Many more silently approved the fascists approach to the metas and their Jewish communists allies.

In recent years due to many reasons, namely the actions of the Ministry and the excessive control exhibited in every field of life(esp the church, and clerical arrests), resistance has grown. Individual gestures of resistance have increased, even if many of them are simple and symbolic-such as the old women who sits on the train and trips soldiers up with her umbrella. More substantial resistance measures have occurred too. A number of small groups have been formed – some conservative catholic, others unionists or simply people who have lost someone within the machinery of Iesus fascism. There is rumoured to be two main currents within the resistance. The exile movement founded by those who fled the revolution all those years ago, and constantly bolstered by those who sneak out of the country. The other ‘current’ are those who resist from within, and are generally believed to be more conservative and hard-line than those who have left the nation.. For a time Patrick Iesus tried to unite the two groups, but this was cut short by his disappearance following a Vegana fire attack.

For security and these political reasons, resistance has remained a broad federation of groupings. These include both networks(groups with a military role) and movements(groups that aim to make propaganda etc). Within these groups a triangular cell structure is most often used, so that activists knew the minimum possible….thus avoiding the possibility of revealing much information while under torture.

The penalties for resistance have been severe, but in recent years Bridgette Iesus has made them even more terrifying.

It is common for prisoners to be burnt or electrified all over their bodies during interrogation, parents and love ones are often held in cells nearby on the hope that the cries of the victim will break them and make them talk. It is common practice to beat, mutilate, drown and sexual assault prisoners. Five years ago it was decreed by Bridgette Iesus that those convicted of sabotage would have ten relatives shot, and another ten assigned to forced Labour. It is unknown if this deterrent has worked, but as seen with the Iesus priest martyrs….violence does not always deter the willing.
