Ireland's legal system adheres to the Irish Constitution, ratified on 16 March 2005. In summary, the Constitution outlines the structure of the Irish government, the rights of citizens, powers of government, etc.

Ireland recently held elections from 1 June to 8 June 2005, and inducted the new officials on 15 June. Ireland also joined the Union of Sovereigns.
