James Silas Shankly was born on 14th January, 1954, in Kashmir, Sabrateur. His father, Marcus, was a fisherman, and died after his boat capsized in the Synaptic Gulf when James was just 4. His mother, however, is a successful entrepreneur in the textile industry, and so Shankly's death was no financial burden on the family, and certainly not on James's prospects, and has become a popular and respected Prime Minister.

Professional Life

He became interested in law as a teenager, and went on to study it at the Kashmir Centre of Law and Politics, beginning study in 1974. However, whilst at the institution, he turned onto politics, and after he left he took up a job with the Sabrateur Liberal Party in the Home Office. He eventually became an MSP (Member of Sabratese Parliament) for Foreign Criminal Movement, and from here, in 1995, was granted the respected position of Sabrateur Ambassador to Socially Progessing Nations, the work in which he earned the inaugural Ranulph Peace Medal. He took in work in neighbouring regions of Petersvillia and Daveanoyl Chloride, which had developed into thriving nations.

Return to Sabrateur

In 2003, Shankly returned to domestic affairs in the Liberal Party, who had since been voted out of office in the 1999 election after two terms by the Sabratese Socialist Party. He was prompted to run for party leader, which he did, beating off strong competition from the former Chief Judge of Sabrateur and others. During the 2004 campaign, he proved very popular with the Sabratese citizens, and it was without shock that the Sabrateur Liberal Party came back into office in 2004, with Prime Minister James Shankly leading the ship.

Policies as Prime Minister

Shankly has a firm belief in funding for education and the environment, which he is actively involved in preserving. This has had a negative impact on the economy, as stringent waste disposal laws make costs high. However, crime has dropped considerably after the Socialist Party's time in office, this being credited to the surge in education budgets and progressive social schemes.

In 2005, Shankly married his long-term partner, Julia Heyes, in a small ceremony in Kashmir. They have since had twin boys, Thomas and Leo.
