The Republic of Petersvillia is a small nation in the west of The Spectrum. It has often been dubbed 'The Luxembourg of The Spectrum'. It has borders with Calumnius, Undracor, Sabrateur and Daveanoyl Chloride. It is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 366 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and the Environment. The average income tax rate is 100%. A small private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.
Much of Petersvillia's computer network is controlled by a rampant artificial intelligence, cars are banned from built-up areas, almost half of the child population live rough on the streets, and a referendum must be held in order for any new law to be passed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Petersvillia's national animal is the Deer.
