The Capoeira nation of Daveanoyl Chloride is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates and compulsory military service. Its hard-working population have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare and convicted felons are forced into slavery for their crimes. People caught mistreating Daveanoyl Chloride's flag generally wind up in a great deal of pain. Daveanoyl Chloride's national animal is the Patiger, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Brown-eye.

History

'Daay Wun' (48 BC - 1 AD)

Before the arrival of Daveanoyl Chloride in The Spectrum there was only untamed land and wild Patigers ravaging those who dared to cross its surface. Many Spectrumites grew tired of this and petitioned for the recovery of the land but no nations move forward. As a result a foreigner was introduced into the lands and day by day, began to pull up the weeds and stroke the Patigers until they purred. And after many hard years, Daveanoyl Chloride was opened to the masses. The mysterious foreigner left the nation so that he would not become power mad and presume he knew better than them because he was the founder and so, slowly but surely Daveanoyl Chloride became a democracy.

First Era (2 AD - 1569 AD)

The First Era is the longest of all eras, with over 15 centuries, and was a rough period for Daveanoyl Chloride as several attacks from outside The Spectrum left the cities crumbled. They were however avenged and forced back to their countries of origin with more than a few battle scars.

Second Era (1570 AD -1972 AD)

The Second Era was a period of 402 years of pure peace and happiness. The nation had no wars and there was only one incident relayed to the police force. However in this time the economy did not prosper and Daveanoyl Chloride began to fall into disarray and the nation realised that a new leadership was needed to become a powerful global power.

Third Era (1973 AD - 2005 AD)

The Third Era of Daveanoyl Chloride is a very short era, consisting only of 32 years, and is known for the arrival of the present ruler of Daveanoyl Chloride, 'Father'.

Fourth Era (2006 AD - Present)

The Fourth Era has been an intense time for Daveanoyl Chloride. Daveanoyl Chlorides government organised the Spectrum Birthday Summit in 2007 to commemorate the first annum of The Spectrum. The event ran smoothly apart from a faux pas commited by Petersvillia and the absence of Buttery Boonswoggles and Mushy Pea despite them saying they would attend. It was a good evening.

The Nation

Daveanoyl Chloride has diverse cultures situated all over its territories. Several oriental villages have arisen and there is little discrimination against other cultures, except a very strong uprising against the Smurf populice who constantly agrivated many of the people by not properly irrigating their mushroom houses. This led to the great purge, the only remnants of which are two stuffed Smurfettes in the Museum of Modern History at the capital. Sexism figures strongly into normal life as women are treated as superiors although the nations hidden "father" is male and only males may join the army. However this does not oppose the monogamous lifestyle of all its people as polygamous lifestyle is outlawed and is punishable by 'wiping that scruffy guy in the corners arse' which involves cleaning the posterior of a local hero Jimmy the Unclean using only the victims tongue. The nation strongly opposes intra-Spectrum wars unless done by a "Pretty Nation", of which there are few within the Spectrum.

Nation Views

  1. Homosexuality: Daveanoly Chloride believes strongly in the expression of its populices feelings, even to the extent of bluntness. Homosexuality and especially bi-sexuality are not frowned upon and, in the foreign quarter, even encouraged from time to time. 13% of women in Daveanoyl Chloride are lesbian and a further 26% are bisexual. A smaller number of 11% of males are homosexual and 5% being bisexual.
  2. Foreign Policy: Daveanoyl Chloride believes that all foreign people seeking asylum or simply a life in the nation must be able to work for their money. There are benefits are granted to those that do not work in the nation and there are no exceptions for foreigners. This does not mean that foreigners are discriminated against as equal freedoms and possiblities are granted.
  3. Environment: Daveanoyl Chloride takes on a strong stance concerning the environment and preservation of the nation Patiger. Mining in forests is banned and deforestation is punishable by death. Hunting of patigers is also outlawed. Heavy research into clean fuels has yeilded positive results and 96% of cars are now operating on "green fuels". The remaining 4% have heavy penalties on road tax.
  4. Obesity: Obesity is heavily frowned upon by Daveanoyl Chloride. Those who have illnesses routed in their obesity are not treated by the National Health Service until they lose 10% of their body mass and even then have to pay for their treatment. As private health services are outlawed there is no other option. Health gyms can be found in even the smallest of villages and mountain retreats form health courses where fat is easily lost due to cold conditions and 18 hour exercise programmes.

National Anthem

The national anthem of Daveanoyl Chloride is "Dragostea Din Tei" by O-Zone despite not being made in the nation it was bought out by the government for being so "nifty."

The Necropolis

The Necropolis is situated in the lower west mountain range of Daveanoyl Chloride and houses the largest graveyard in Daveanoyl Chloride. It houses all the dead up to the 2nd era and holds a large percentage of the 3rd era's deceased. Oriental in design, the necropolis contains over 800 buildings each with intertwining catacombs stretching over many miles with the dead laid in millions of passages. It is suspected to be haunted as several incidents have arisen when foreigners visiting for tourism have been injured and killed in odd events where loose slats and stairways in the catacombs have severed head, been crippled and suffered multiple other injuries which have hospitalised and killed over 50 visitors. However, these 'poltergeists' seem to act benevolently to Chloridians as no attacks have been made and several people have claimed to have been aided by their 'ancestors', helping them find treasure hidden within. Development has restarted on the western side of the Necropolis, expanding it over a 1/2 mile stone walkway into a stucturally similar section made to house the dead of the 4th and 5th eras.

Geography

Daveanoyl Chloride is a small nation covered in lush forests and a grand mountain range running along the west side of the nation protects it from western danger and houses the Necropolis, a suspected haunted area which is a site of great interest to tourists despite the obvious danger. Daveanoyl Chloride shares borders with Enthalpy Change to the south, Undracor to the west, Petersvillia in the north and Sabrateur to the east.

Climate

Daveanoyl Chloride has a temperate climate, with plentiful rainfall until winter when only snow falls, though the seasons are quite variable in temperature. Temperatures rarely fall below −12 °C or rise above 36 °C. The prevailing wind is from the west, bringing mild and wet weather to Daveanoyl Chloride. It is driest in the east and warmest in the north. Snowfall always occurs in Winter and sometimes inearly Spring, though it is not that common away from high ground.

The highest temperature ever recorded in Daveanoyl Chloride is 48.5 °C on April 10, 2006, clothes dried in less than 2 minutes. The lowest temperature ever recorded is −26.1 °C on January 10, 1992.

Major Rivers

There a 3 major rivers in Daveanoyl Chloride with several off-shooting streams caused by Daveanoyl Chlorides long and thick outcrops

  1. River Kang: An environmentally stunning section of Daveanoyl Chloride's natural landscape, River Kang recently ran dry due to poor inflow of water. According to environmental experts however, water will return to the lush, beautiful streams of River Kang in September this year. River Kang runs from the lower half of Petersvillia, through a tiny mountainous section of Daveanoyl Chloride into the south-west of Sabrateur
  2. River Keeley: The most curvacious of the three rivers, River Keeley runs from Undracor, through Daveanoyl Chloride and through a small section of Enthalpy Change.
  3. River Johansson:

Major Cities

Politics

Daveanoyl Chloride has always prided itself on forwarding its view. It believes that Delegate powers should be respected rather than overuled. It takes the security of itself and The Spectrum in higher value than that of the rights of the individuals strongly opposing the Privacy act (though it strongly backs the admittion of identity to Delegate on entrance to The Spectrum).

Father

'Father' is the mysterious, constantly re-elected, ruler of Daveanoyl Chloride. 200 years has passed since his initial election and none of the previous generation have survived long enough to pass the secret of his identity on. How 'Father' has lived this long is a mystery, but recent trips to a fountain in the south of the Necropolis has arised suspicion, but no members of the public are allowed access. 'Father' is purely benevolent, allowing democracy and free will at every turn but takes a high stance on environment as he believes the public cannot be trusted to ensure its survival.

The Spectrum

Daveanoyl Chloride has the following views regarding The Spectrum

  1. The Delegate position: Daveanoyl Chloride believes that the U.N. Delegate is voted for the people by the people and should be the only person with control over the smooth running The Spectrum and should not be overruled by such people as the founder. This does not mean the Delegate is all powerful as he should run all issues by The Spectrum's members as it is run as a democracy.
  2. Spectrum Security: Daveanoyl Chloride believes that all nations entering The Spectrum should hand their identity to the current Delegate and admitted only if it can be considered 'safe' to do so.

The Good-Guys

Daveanoyl Chloride was the 9th addition to The Good Guys alliance and joined after light negotiations with Domas-Porada in a costa coffee far from The Spectrum's borders. Daveanoyl Chloride has since left over growing concerns that the alliance was becoming increasingly war-mongering and did not help The Spectrum

The Laws

Daveanoyl Chloride has very few laws but are mostly punishable by death, this ensures a very safe nation. For more details see The laws of Daveanoyl Chloride.

Religion

Buddhism

Most of the populice of Daveanoyl Chloride practice a loose form of Buddhism where, meditation is a simple "before-bed" exercise. Shaven heads are not required but practitioners are emotionally blackmailed into giving to the poor since 'you never know what they can do, growing up on the streets.' However, this is not always necessary as most of the homeless are forced into menial jobs to earn their money.

Others

There has been a dramatic influx of the rather new, sexually based, religion Gob-jobism though it is still in minority. Also a rather ignored number of christians have entered Chlorides southern regions though the public has took it on themselves to repetatively throw out this dogmatic, controlling religion. Despite this there are around 50 christians in the nation but this is clearly an insignificant minority. Most other Chloridians are agnostic, not wasting their time on gods, demons and general opression prefering to focus their attention on being happy.

Popular Culture

  1. Acting: Actors from Daveanoyl Chloride have been jumping into the spotlight over the years, seen as the best stage actors in The Spectrum especially more than those of Don Flanioso. They have crept onto the silver screen and lately the plasma screen appearing frequently in many popular t.v. shows most notably Protagonists with the following character; Abraham Starkers (Mila Vangewilaminaadrewsanorvich the 5th). Abraham Starkers is from Daveanoyl Chloride and developed an ability after being repetatively hit from women for his lude remarks. Working for Retep ILLERtep in his presidency campain, Abraham hides his ability to become see through though, like a true Chloridian, only in the presence of a charming lady. He is working on enhancing his ability from just women with little luck so far.
  2. Controversy: On the 26 August 2006, Daveanoyl Chloride was placed in the media spotlight as movie legend John Strucher was found in the back seat of a taxi in the nation of Domas-Porada engaged in what was suspected as one of many varying sex acts with a Poradan prostitute. He was fined for his actions and has since returned unscathed to his original glory on the silver screen.
  3. Gaming: The character Bolvyn Ordassi features in the popular fighting game Spectrum Fusion Tournament for the Noboriko Woo and the Gameterminal 3. Bolvyn is a combat heavy male fighter who is power based like most of Daveanoyl Chloride's traditional fighters. At the age of 31 Bolvyn is older than several of the other playable characters in the game.

Sport

Both sports in Daveanoyl Chloride are combat based with very little interest in traditional sports such as football and rugby.

Vale Tudo

Daveanoyl Chlorides biggest sport is Vale Tudo cage fighting, where combatants are renouned for hospitalising each other for ownership of the Chloride Championship Belt. However, television broadcasts of this sport have been placed on hiatus until April 23, 2007 due to the brutal death of fighting legend Daniel 'the crippler' Andrews, who had his neck broken when thrown against cage walls in late 2006.

Muay Thai

A much less deadly and more conventional ring match sport, Muay Thai allows well conditioned fighters perform with less emphasis on strength. This does not, however, make it any less dangerous though headbutts and groinal targets (which are allowed in Vale Tudo) are banned. Rope fist forms are used to ensure an entertaining fight but also increase the risk of injury, however, Muay Thai fighters are well compensated for their fights.
