Jamiha

La Republiquè de Jamiha is a liberal island country located somewhere in the vicinity of The UK. Its (roleplayed) population is around 15 million people.

History

Discovered in 1508 by a French explorer, and claimed for the Crown, Jamiha soon became a major trading post and refueling point for French traders, sailors and privateers. The only inhabitants were the Jamih people, whose social and political structures meshed very well with those of the French and who gladly integrated into French society.

In 1608, in honor of the Jamih centennial, Jamiha became a province of France and established its own non-hereditary system of nobility, and in 1919, Jamiha became an independent nation.

Government

Jamiha is governed by two parallel series of nobilities: Honorary and Presiding. At the top of the pyramid is Governeur Duc Rene LaDuke. Below him are the Marquess, who are the Governeur's cabinet and who form the upper house of Parliament. The lower house is formed by the Comtes, who each control one county of Jamiha. Below them are Vicontes, who act as their staff, followed by Barons, who each control a barony, equivalent to an American county, then Seigneurs, who control individual towns (mayors) or areas of larger cities.

Honorary titles of nobility

The Governeur may, at any time, award any of the above titles "honorarily", resulting in titles such as "Honorary Baron" or "Honorary Viconte". The only title that does not have an honorary equivalent is Duke.
