A brief war in the East Pacific. This was a short-lived but violent conflict amongst three nations: Krechzianko, Xiopothos, and Vladistock Island. While the 'Allied' powers involved in the war claimed at the time that it was an act of democratization, the main instigator of the conflict (Krechzianko) has since admitted that it was an imperialistic venture. The war was fought in several stages: it began with massed amphibious landings on the defending nation's coastline, which were followed by mixed trench and jungle warfare. 'Operation Red Flame', an airborne mission, marked the last stage of combat in the Krechzianko-Vladistock War.

The First Assault

The Peoples' Republic of Krechzianko, interested in expanding her territory, decided to conquer the long inactive nation of Vladistock Island. Krechzianko's ally, the Peoples' Republic of Xiopothos, decided to help, due to its close proximity to Vladistock. The two nations landed thousands of marines on the Island's coast and heavily bombed military defenses. However, the defender soon became active so as to protect his nation.

The initial attacks were successful, with Allied forces moving inland several miles. The nation's interior was a mixture of forest, jungle, and mountains. However, their advance was slowed down by heavy Vlad resistance and frequent counterattacks. As this was happening, other nations of the East Pacific began to take sides politically. Many of these contries, such as Kelssek and the Free Pacific States, supported Vladistock, accusing Krechzianko of imperialism. The Krech and Xiopothan forces, however, claimed that it was a 'nation-building' mission. The fighting was mostly stopped when Kelssek's fleet reached Vladistock and began an enforced cease-fire. They threatened to attack any nation that engaged in combat during the cease-fire. Vladistock continued some action againt Krechzianko, and threatened nuclear reprisal if their enemies refused to leave immediately. The Allies continued to stay on the island, ignoring these warnings.

Operation Red Flame

As the two sides met in Neorvins, Kelssek, to iron out a peace treaty, Krechzianko prepared for a final assault, which could give them leverage in the talks. Operation Red Flame was a mission intended to bring a great deal more land under Krech control. Airborne troops landed at a large airport near the city of Klev-a-Yelz, and seized it with only minor resistance. Vlad defenders were reluctant to fight back, fearing that they would lose international support if they engaged in battle. So the Krech marines advanced quickly, hoping to stabilize the line around their new airbase. Meanwhile, thousands of troops were being landed there in large transport aircraft.

Naval Incident and Coup

The war at sea continued, with large Vlad submarine attacks causing massive Krech casualties. After one attack, Krech naval helicopters began to search for their enemies in the straits between Xiopothos and Vladistock. They spotted a submarine, which they proceeded to attack with torpedoes. It turned out to be a Free Pacific States sub, and an international incident took place afterward. An FPS naval officer attacked Krech ships even after receiving direct orders not to. He was actually doing this for hire, after receiving a large sum of money from a group of Krech rebels (see April coup).

As the war continued, a group of Krech officers and politicians staged the April coup, an attempt to replace the moderate socialist leadership with a hardcore military state. It failed, but the Premier was forcd to recall all troops in Vladistock to help mop up the rebels and repair the damage done. This aided the peace talks in Kelssek.

War's End and Aftermath

Eventually the talks succeeded, and both parties ended hostilities. It was considered a great day for all nations involved.

Overall, official Vladistockian and Xiopothan casualty rates have not been released, but Krechzianko claims 3,277 dead and 8,603 wounded. The majority of deaths on Krechzianko's part were caused by naval attacks, but at least 1,400 of the dead were ground troops. The effects of the conflict on international affairs was not greatly significant, though Krechzianko and Vladistock remained suspicious of one another afterward. It was feared that the peacekeeping group known as the East Pacific Treaty Organization could collapse as a result of divisions within the alliance regarding the war. However, it remains intact today.

Krechzianko and Vladistock's political differences and competition were lessened with the onset of a civil war in the East Pacifan empire of Packilvania. An international relief force was sent to keep the peace and restore order amongst Packilvanian forces, and during the combat, Krech and Vlad troops fought side by side. Since that time, the former enemies have maintained a relatively friendly relationship.
