Biography of President Michael J. Smith

Michael J. Smith was born just before the First Age of Nanakaland [RL Time: March-June 2003], a refugee of a people without a homeland. He was born of an elvin mother and a human father, thus becoming half immortal. At the age of 5, his mother left, leaving Michael with only his father. He was so poor that he barely was able to go to college, even with a scholarship.

When Nanakaland was reestablished, he joined the army and helped fight for the new People's Republic of Nanakaland. He became a war hero and then became President of Nanakaland in a landslide election. He was the second president, but he was the most important by far.

As a president of the new nation, he saw it through many changes. He joined Issachar's Black Sea Alliance (which helped start World War 4 by angering the big superpowers of the time) and kept getting reelected through the war as he changed policies and alliances.

Due to a misunderstanding, Nanakaland was wiped out by an invasion lead by Russian Forces, a superpower of the time. The peoples of Nanakaland scattered as the nation dissolved. It would take a long time and an old hero to reunite the nation.

In the Second Age of Nanakaland [RL Time: November 2003 - June 2004], Nanakaland was reunited under Michael Smith (still alive) and the peoples long scattered returned to their ancestral homeland. He was the first President inaugurated in Government Castle, the old government building built centuries earlier in the time just before the Colonial Days.

He created the Legion of Defense (LoD) to prevent future misunderstandings with other nations to destroy Nanakaland. The Legion was the greatest achievement of Nanakaland in the Second Age (with close seconds being achieving peace with Russian Forces and creating a giant warship for the FT version of Nanakaland). Sadly, Nanakaland was frozen by a mad scientest from Nanakan Labs Just when the Legion was kicking off again.

The Return of Nanakaland is a more detailed history (because it is the actual RP) that parallels the next part of Smith's life. It also covers the story from a perspective other than just Smith's. It is a good read and it is recommended that you read it before reading beyond (if you are going to read it) because...

When Nanakaland came back for the Third Age of Nanakaland (after the melting of the ice cap that is now Nanakaland again), Smith returned to Nanakaland from a foreign land he was forced to live in while Nanakaland was gone. He returned as president, but announced that he would not run for reelection in the upcoming election.

Even so, the Underground - a secret society of people who thought that they had the right to rule Nanakaland because they lived in bunkers during the freeze and thus weren't frozen with the rest of Nanakaland - attempted to kill Smith using an agent known as "the General." Smith lived and hid in a secret bunker after a long tunnel. He left the bunker and went into the Nanakan Highlands, where he hitchhiked on a highway to go down to the Nanakan Forest. A trucker, named George Brown drove him there.

Michael Smith then went to Ostotaure to visit his mother. He finally saw his mother for the first time in over a century when Ostotaure was attacked and destroyed by the General and his henchmen from the Underground. Smith escaped with his life, but didn't get to say goodbye to his long lost mother.

Smith found an old Advanced Nanakan Army Helicopter (ANAH) in the Nanakan forest from a war long past and used it to try to cross the Wastelands. However, he got lost and crash landed in the Northern Desert. There, he wandered in the desert until he stumbled upon a mansion.

In the mansion, there was a meeting of the surviving Underground members (it was after a raid, most were killed, including their leader, the General took over as head). Smith hid in the mansion and picked off the Underground members individually until there were only eight in the mansion. He then attacked them and kill four of them before the other four surrounded him. He was about to be killed when the police (called by George Brown who followed Smith) came. Smith hid while the Underground and the Nanakan police engaged in a firefight. The General survived, but was forced to surrender.

Smith then, with the help of George Brown, was driven to Nanakapolis, where he killed the remaining member of the Underground. He then retired to a quiet life in the Nanakan Forest, where he is thought dead. The Underground might return and if they do, Smith will return...
