Michael Trent

Michael Trent was a devious, unscrupulous inhabitant of Luceterna who became its emperor. Unknown to the Luceternan populace, Trent served a master from another world, called Degriesk Lemaliorn. After invading The Underground City, capital of Niogoul-Maeromirpli, Trent betrayed his master, killing him and absorbing his power. Trent then abandoned his invasion and former empire, disappearing to an unknown location.
The Order of Light
In 201,907 ASI, Trent was approached by Degriesk, who asked for his help and promised him great magical power in return. For this, Trent had to seize control of Luceterna and build a large army. The army would then be used to invade The Underground City, allowing Degriesk to reclaim some items belonging to him.
Trent agreed, and formed the "Order of Light". An organisation which pretended to be interested in restoring the morality that Luceterna had supposedly lost. In reality, the Order itself committed many crimes in order to convince the public that only the Order could save the nation from its moral downslide.
In 201,910 ASI the Order was elected as Luceterna's new government. In government, the Order ruled with an iron-fist, implementing many draconian laws. The population were heavily taxed to fund the military, and conscription was introduced. Luceterna became highly imperialistic, invading nearby nations and using their resources to build up the army. In 201,912 ASI the Order banned elections.
In 201,942 Degriesk ordered Trent to commence the invasion. Using a portal that Degriesk had created , the army were sent directly into The Underground City, where they began to destroy indiscriminantly. Trent himself hunted down Degriesk's items.
These items were a crystal, and a stone with a word engraved upon it. Unbeknownst to Degriesk, Trent had discovered the purpose of the items. Whoever held the crystal could drain Degriesk's power, absorbing it into their own body. This process would kill Degriesk.
Rather than handing over the items, Trent betrayed his master, and used them. Every bit of Degriesk's power - magic, life, everything - was absorbed into Trent. Fully aware of his new power, Trent saw no more interest in The Underground City, or Luceterna and teleported himself away.
Some time in 201,944, Trent became the god of a religion called "Trentism".
