History

Miervatia University was originally established in 1614 as a seminary school in Miervatia City prior to the creation of confederation of Thuvian and Solacewald cities. The chapel was located south of the city walls along the Risden River, and was raised several times during sieges upon Miervatia City before the campus had its own fortifications built around the rebuilt structures. As the affluence of Miervatia grew, the land between the old city and campus developed and the university expanded to include additional academic programs related to the Spice Trade and water resources engineering.

Campus

The Miervatia University campus is located along the southern residential wards of Miervatia City on the bank of the Risden River in an area that was once prone to flooding. The campus itself is considered world-renowned for its picturesque river walk and gothic architecture, and thus is often crowded with as many tourists as students.

Sports and Student Activities

The university features a number of collegiate sports programs that are invited to compete against other college programs in the International Democratic Union. Most sports have both male and female teams, but for a few sports there are gender specific sports. The university takes pride in the fact that equal resources are spent on men's and women's atheletic programs. For sporting programs were there are both men's and women's teams, the two teams cross train together and share facilities.

The following is a list of university supported sporting teams:

  • Crew
  • Ski Team

School Mascot

The official mascot of the university is Elrich Eule, Elrich Owl in English, and the official school colors are blue and white. Every year several students are selected by a faculty committee to represent Elrich Eule at sporting events and these cheerleaders will dress up in a owl costume to cheer on Miervatia University teams.

College Radio

In 1951 Miervatia University students created a student-run radio station, Mier-Air, which has become one of Miervatia City's most listened to radio stations. Today the station offers both music, news, and talk related community programming, with most of the programs featuring local Miervatian artists, politicians, and leaders. Due to the geographic setting of the Risden River Valley, the broadcast of Mier-Air are limited to the Miervatia City metropolitan area.
