The People's Republic of Murlith is one of the worlds largest countries, located in North East Athkizmix. It is bordered to the north by the North Sea, to its east by the East Sea, to the south by Gwindle and to its west by Nua Shealainn.

History
From the Dawn of time, Murlith, along with neighbour, Gwindle, has always been a very dominant figure in the region of Athkizmix. In the Year 10, these were the only two countries that existed in Athkizmix with both their empires spanning to the very western areas. These empires known as the north/south empires (Murlith's being the northern of the two) lasted until the year 123 when a large war was fought between these two countries for dominance of the whole region. The war lasted 18 years and ended not only with a stalemate between the two great nations, but with these two nations having exhausted all of their military might to the point where their empires were no longer able to be maintained. This saw the creation of the countries Nua Shealainn, Archmonde, Vallexia, and especially Stonelaw a country that originally included what are now the islands of Arrisland and Grand Nimewo.
During the next 100 years, Murlith under the leadership of the emperors, Lerge Cortez I and II, the military was rebuilt to the extent where they were strong enough to begin their second conquest of the West. This time they did not have the competition from Gwindle and it took them 2 years to build up the first Great Murlith Empire that included all of Athkizmix except for what is modern day Gwindle, which they did not contest. This empire spanned from the year 157 to the year 286.
Three such Great Murlith Empire's have existed. The first from the year 157 to the year 286 was defeated by the army of the recently turned communist, Gwindle, who wished to turn the entire world into one large communist state. The second Great Murlith empire lasted from the year 935 to the year 1002 and was only ended because of the coming to power of Listerio Cortez VI who was also known as the benevolent. This emperor decided that he did not want to be in control of a large empire and so gave it back to the people of Athkizmix. The Third Great Murlith Empire is somewhat controversial as to whether it ought to be deemed a great empire for only half of Athkizmix came under Murlith control in this time (from 1311 to 1411). The two defying nations were Stonelaw who had become powerful in their own right in this time, and Gwindle who had never been conquered by Murlith, just the same as Murlith has never been conquered by Gwindle.
Politics
Currently, Murlith is deemed to be a 'Corrupt Dictatorship', even though the government, under the leadership of Leonardo Cortez, would like to be thought of as an imperialistic government, akin to the leadership of the empires of old. They tend to do whatever they like, but always with the alleged desire to do what's best for the people of Murlith.

Thoringua Manathamia Cortiler-West is the least populated of these states but enjoys having the longest name. The capital city of this state is Tho. It is generally thought of by the rest of the country as 'the boring state', but its citizens don't care, waving off the numerous documentaries that have been made about the lack of activities available here as 'nonsense'. In fact a random commuter when questioned commented that 'If we (Murlith) gave Thoringua Manathamia Cortiler-West to Gwindle, then everyone would be better off.'
Akroy state has the shortest name of all the states but is also the most populated. Believe it or not, Akroy City is the capital of this state. The two mountains, Mt. Tall and Mt. High, for which this state is famous for are clearly visible in the horizon from Akroy City. A common response from a citizen of Akroy to a comment about their underperforming cricket team is 'We may have a shit cricket team but at least we've got the tallest mountains in the world.'
By general concensus, Northland is deemed to be the most beautiful of the states and although is only the fourth most populated state, has the largest tourism industry in Murlith and is only second to the Schoenwald state in Gwindle. Murlith Village is the capital of this state and is also the smallest state capital in Murlith, with a smaller population than many of the towns in the southern parts of the country. It is also the only state capital to be smaller than another city within the same state, being chosen only because it has the word 'Murlith' in its name.
Manata is the largest state in Murlith, only just bigger than northland. Its capital city is Gorlab. Manata also has the only motorway (known in Murlith as the 'all-out free-zone) in Murlith that has more than 12 lanes and no speed limits. This is becasue this state is the only state that has a border with every other state and therefore is considered 'Central Murlith'.
Capital State consists only of the capital city of Murlith, Murlith City, and the area directly around it, more commonly known as the 'suburbs'.

Murlith is a large country that stretches from the somewhat disputed border in the south to the shores of the icy cold North Sea in the north. In between are large forested uplands and lowlying plains. The country is not known to be flat, rather the opposite. Many mountains can be found in Murlith, including the Murlith portion of the Athkizmix Alps. The Mountains in the far east, Mt. Tall and Mt. High next to the city of Akroy are the highest in the continet with Mt. Tall standing at 7044m and Mt. High at 7026m.
The People's Republic is bordered to the south by Gwindle and to the west by Nua Shealainn.
The weather is sometimes unpredictable. Generally the climate is rather cool, especially in the north where snow is known to fall and remain for the entire length of winter. However truly extreme weather conditions, like severe droughts, tornados, destructive hailstorms, severe frost or heat etc. are all extremely rare. There have been two bad large-scale floodings in the last few years, but in the long term those are also quite rare. Damaging earthquakes are unheard-of.
Economy
Murlith possesses the region's fourth most technologically powerful economy after Stonelaw, Labora Solia, and Archmonde. While exports remain strong, the local market of the basically capitalistic economy has started to show problems commonly blamed on the generous social benefits. Unemployment has been a problem for several decades, and is now usually considered a long-term, not just cyclical, problem, with unemplyment rates at 20.46%.
