NAD - National AeroDefence - is one of the largest corporation in the Dominion of Upper Virginia and one of the largest denfence contractors in the entire Excalbian Isles. NAD was founded in 1930s by the Alksne family to build aeroplanes for the Dominion Army.

As the military grew in poltical power in the Dominion, so did NAD, and other defence contractors. By the later 20th century, NAD was one of the Dominion's largest companies and a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Industrials - the body established by the Provisional Ruling Council to provide business with a voice in the governance of the Dominion.

NAD's growth in the mid-20th century had led the Alksne family to make it a publicly traded corporation. By the late 1990s, the family held a minority share of the company but retained the presidency. That was lost when Forrest Turley, the son-in-law of President Alksne, sided with the board in an investor's revolt and ousted the Alksnes from the company once and for all. The board eventually replaced the position of President with that of CEO. The current CEO and Chairman of the Board is Turley, who is also Chairman of the Chamber of Industrials and Chairman of the Board of NAD's biggest competitor, National Defence Systems.
