Overview

The Loose City-State Association of Nova Britannicus is a massive, safe nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Healthcare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 55%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Cheese Exports industries.

Retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites, the Nova Britannicus Automotive Racing Series draws millions of spectators annually while those near the tracks complain about the noise, citizens are expected to be proficient in at least five languages, and murderers frequently escape punishment by claiming they were protecting their honour. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nova Britannicus's national animal is the Navy-Bluebird, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Pound Sterling.

The City-States

There are six city-states in N.B., generally these are huge shining Metropolises surrounded by millions of acres of wide-open plains, with nothing but farms and roads to connect them.

  • Hernsworth

The Hernsworth Cubs are perennially one of the worst teams in all of Starblaydia and Nova Britannicus, and Hernsworth itself is generally regarded as the runt of the six Britannican cities.

  • Montepool

The Montepool Waves football team reflects the state of the city, being on the coastline has meant that the people of Montepool have grown up with the sea. Montepool's Navy is second-to-none in Nova Britannicus' military reckoning, providing the ships that carry the fight for N.B.

  • Tuncastle

The most populous of the Cities gives rise to the best Britannican football team, the Tuncastle Rovers. With such a surplus of people, the infantry regiments of Tuncastle are large and unweildy.
