The Principality of Oriflamme is a growing, robust nation, home of beaurocratic corporations pursuing free trade and right-wing economic policies. Most of its people are highly educated, mainly due to the numerous public libraries all over the state. The majority of the workforce is employed in seemingly meaningless paper-pushing jobs, but things seem to be working out in the relatively young principality.
Government
The government does little to care for its citizens in the way of welfare and financial aid, taxes are spent mostly on roads, parks, libraries, and the care of the country's national animal, the hedgehog. Elections for parliament (known as the Place Of Discussion or P.O.D.), are held every three years. There are a multitude of parties, the biggest are The Liberal Conservatives, The Democratic Liberals, and The Conservative Democratic Liberals. Voting is not compulsary, and there is universal franchise for all individuals over 16 who have passed a small reading test.
Education and Leisure
All Oriflemmians are required to attend school from the age of 5 until the age of 16. About 85 % of the population chooses to attend one of the numerous universities. Teachers are a highly valued resource in Oriflamme, especially at university level. They recieve high salaries, and teaching positions are much fought over, ensuring top notch quality in the educators of Oriflamme.
