Pablicosta
The Peacefull and Free Land of Pablicosta lies in the region of Texas, which it allways has done after leaving its origins in The North Pacific. Pablicosta is a peacefull and friendly nation whose people enjoy participating in sporting events regularly, aswell as International social events. It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Social Equality. The average income tax rate is 100%. Private enterprise is illegal, although future legislation is planning to encourage private enterprise in Pablicosta.
History
As a country Pablicosta has existed for only a few centuries, but the people of Pablicosta have existed for many years before this. We can provide a detailed history of our people since records began in the year 1400 of the Gregorian Calendar, but Historical Documents and Artifacts can provide an insight into life before that year.
Nomadic Years
We get our first words of the people who wandered this land arround year 2000BC, our archeological finds indicate that people were on this land travelling between small semi-permanent towns and camps. Remains of some of these stone towns have been found in the North of what is now Pablicosta, generally following the 2 major rivers. The Nomadic Peoples seem to have remained close to the rivers, they would have provided sustainance to those who mastered the arts of hunting and fishing. However, there is no evidence of standard, solid society for over 1000 years.
Ancient Society
Noted historians in Pablicosta agree that the first sign of a true society occurs in 85BC when the twin cities of Tandeys and Bordeys in the Northern Province were settled. The remains of a Church, Town Hall and Farm buildings suggest that the people who lived in the Twin Cities had a good knowledge of surviving. In the many digs at the Twin City sites we have found evidence of rudamentary weapons including blades of various complexities. The citizens of this period appear to be religious, due the presence of 2 churches featuring ceremonial burial grounds.
