Government
The government of the Tribal Protectorate of Patrynia is a (mostly) benevolent autocracy, ruled by the Lord Protector, who makes the rules of the nation and enforces them. This position is earned by right of triumph in combat, an extremely violent and quite meritocratic method of selection. Theoretically, any Patryn of either sex from any clan could become the Lord Protector.
Current Leadership
The current Lord Protector of Patrynia is Daryk of Clan Dragyn. He sets forth the policies of the Protectorate, generally allowing the populace to do what they want with their lives and their finances as long as they fully aknwlege that he is the one in charge. For those who choose not to aknowledge him as the ruler, death is almost always the consequence, often with a bit of rune-torture preceding the act of killing.
The Protectorship is one of only two government positions available. The other is the position of High Magus, lately held by Dugren, who in a striking coincidence happens to be Daryk's son. The High Magus acts as the primary enforcer for the Lord Protector, often doing battle with political opponents in an ancient arena, ostensibly to give them a fair chance at making their views known and possibly overthrowing the current Protector.
