History

OOC history

Victor started the Penpusher Confederacy on May 15, 2004. He began role-playing his nation on the forums soon afterwards, and occasionally made a name for it. He involved the nation in war scenarios, economic and political disputes, and even a nuclear weapon test gone wrong. He has revived his nation 6 times since then.

IC history

The arrest of Prime Minister Robert Hanson of Monelia marked the official founding of the new Penpusher state. The etymology of the name is rooted in the name the natives gave to the land, which roughly translates to The Land of the Penpushers, where a pen is a female swan. Several nations still refer to the nation as Monelia, showing that they do not recognize the Penpusher government.

In 1946, Colonel General George Lowe lead a coup against the Monelian government. He had several other generals in his pocket, including Navy admirals. After airstrikes against the Capitol Hall had been a daily occurance, forces loyal to General Lowe entered the Presidential Palace, stormed it, and Hanson was behind a table, armed with a .45 caliber pistol. He didn't fight, but surrendered to the troops, and claimed he had the weapon to fend off anyone who wasn't from the military who would compromise his life. The government was declared disfunctional, and Lowe took control of the interim military government of Monelia, until he handed authority to a new President, James Stanley, who presided over the changing of the nation's name.

In 1951, a tribunal found former Prime Minister Hanson guilty of mismanagement of state assets, corruption, and several other crimes, and he was exiled to his ranch outside Bellaire, where he was under armed guard every minute of every day, with the exception of a few hospital visits, where he was still under guard by military forces of the new Penpusher state. He died in 1977 of cardiac arrest, and was given an honorable funeral with full military honors.

In 1981, the radical Prime Minister Eugene Church instituted new political and economic reforms which turned the isolationist Penpusher Confederacy into a blooming economic powerhouse. He retired from his position after developing several chronic pains which he still lives with to this day, and is seen as a living national hero.
