The Democratic States of San Timetheos is a Swiss-style Federal Democracy. It maintains a neutral stance in all conflicts and is a centre for international aid. Founded in 04/05, San Timetheos swaying from it's original socialist stance to a more capitalist approach.
Power is devolutionised to the parliaments of the three States, Dalriada, Caledonia and Wessex. Foreign and Intelligence matter are conducted by a small central government in the capital, San Timetheos City. The population is mostly of Anglo Saxon origin, settled mainly in the south and west of the country. The majority of the population in sparse north eastern Caledonia are of hispanic, spanish speaking origin. The dying race of natives settled in the west speak a local dialect, Titan.
The population is almost completely christian with a strong conservative majority in power. An emphasis is put on education with San Timethean children singing "San Timecios, mi vida" every morning. The government has recently laucnhed a campaign cutting down on bureaucracy across the board.
History
In 1264 the ruling monarch over the land currently know as Dalriada and Wessex died unexpectantly. The land was divided equally between his twin sons, Timecios and Theodoro. The sons warred bitterly, both believing he had a divine right to the entire estate. The bitter conflict lasted no more than a decade when both nations, exhausted from years of war agreed to a cease fire. The two nations co-existed peacefully. San Theodoro was colonised by anglo-saxon settlers in the late 1700's and re-named Wessex. The two states united two hundred and fifty years later, forming the United Kingdom of San Timetheos, a further state, Caledonia, was added after a bloody revolution there. In 1975 King Timecios IVX died leaving no heir. The Democratic States of San Timetheos was born.
San Timetheos rose to become the UN Delegate of Titan AE in May 2005 and held the position until forming Llamedos in the July. After the founder of Titan AE ceased to exist, San Timetheos returned to the region in the late August for a short time to help with the rebuilding of the region and never left. He became Delegate again in the late October and is credited with merging Titan AE with Government.
Sport & Recreation
The national sport of San Timetheos is Ultimate Frisbee with twenty professional team playing in two divisions. The Altantis Flatballs have won the First Division for the past 6 years, but are facing tough competition this year from the El Stablo Flyers.
Infrastructure and Communications
San Timetheos has an extensive network of private toll motorways that traverse the country. A monorail also provides travel between the major cities and towns. International Airports in San Timetheos' major cities fly citizens to all corners of Government and a rural airport provides domestic flights to the countrie's country dwellers. Communications are monpolised by two major corporations, the San Timethean Broadcasting Company STBC and Atlantis Telecom AT.
