Sapphire Coast

The Democratic Republic of Sapphire Coast is a very large, safe nation, renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 113 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and the Environment. The average income tax rate is 78%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government is a clear-cut case of tyranny by majority, dog breeding has been banned in accordance with recent animal experimentation laws, motorists' locations are constantly tracked by intelligence and law enforcement agencies, and all guns must be registered. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sapphire Coast's national animal is the black-footed cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the noble.

Government

The centre of Sapphire Coast's government is located in Emileah, the capital city. Throughout history, the country's presidents have prided themselves on working closely with Sapphire Coast's citizens. For the most part, they put the people's agenda before their own, in the spirit of a true democracy.

Languages

Sapphire Coast has three official languages: Sahrilein, English, and French. Sahrileihn is the country's native language, though the majority of Sapphire Coast's citizens speak English and French. For the past five hundred years, Sahrilein seemed to be dying out, but during the past half-century, its popularity has rapidly grown.
