Government

The Portuguese Union is a Socialist Representative Democracy, with many government sponsered amenities with annual elections. The Congress is the national governing power. There is one representative for each district, and each district is limited to one million people. The nation is part of the region of Europe. The capital city of the nation is Lisbon(Λισβoα). Presidential elections occur annually every 22 July. The current President is Jake Ryder of Lisbon. A President may be elected as many as 10 times.


Regions

The nation is divided into Municipalities, Regions, and Districts. Each district has one million people and are usually redefined anually to meet the one million population requirement. Each district elects one representative for Congress. The regions are groups of Portuguese speaking districts which control regional government spending. There are 7 regions in The Portuguese Union:

Municipalities and Other Languages

There are also Municipalities, which are limited to one Metropolis, and are also split into Districts and act in the same way that Regions do. The Municipalities of the nation are:

--Roma(רעמא)--Italian Speaking

--Paris(Παρις)--French Speaking

--London(Λovδov)--English Speaking

Alphabet

The northern half of the country uses the Greek alphabet, while the southern half of the country uses the Hebrew alphabet. Both of these are modified versions which are adapted to be convenient to the languages to which they serve.


Puclic Transportation

The Portuguese Union has invested the majority of it's money into Public Transportation. There is an Underground system in every town, city, and metropolis. Since cars are banned in cities, these systems are extremely elaborate and reach every part of every town. A one way Metro ticket is only §0,25.


The inter-city rail system is extremely fast and efficient and reaches every part of the nation in every town. The Alfa Act states that no train may travel on national tracks at a cruising speed of under 170kph. The majority of trains travel at around 300kph.


The air system in the country is very efficient. There are a multitude of airports dotted around the country. There are __ major airlines in The Portuguese Union.

There is an underground system of service roads and emergency exits one level below street level. Those however are restricted for those purposes only.


Economy

The nation is also an extremely large and fast growing economic centre. The Escudo is valued very high versus the Euro at €1=§0,83. The Portuguese Union economy is growing at an average rate of 9,7% annually.


Mobile Phones

Mobile Phones are a necessity in The Portuguese Union! Every person has one once they learn to read, usually around first or second grade. There are more than 1000 television channels available to watch on them and one can surf the world wide web. Emergency public service announcments are also distributed through mobile phones as it is the quickest way to reach people. There are half a dozen mobile phone companies in the nation and there is coverage in every place in the nation, including Metros and Airplanes.
