The Wachovia Coalition is a diverse nation of five different larger people groups and nearly a hundred different tribal groups.

The Coalition and it's previous incarnation, Kabuverdianu, both have been sworn defenders of The East Pacific, their homeland.

History of The Wachovia Coalition

The Wachovia Coalition was once known by the name Kabuverdianu. The Verlotion and Juoi peoples lived in harmony for many years but tensions were always present between the patriarchal Verlotions and the matriarchal Juoi. Eventually, land disputes and government structure issues became so great that civil war erupted.

The conflict was long and bloody. Many innocents died as fighting cut down ethnic lines. In time, both regions broke down into near anarchy and mainly felt there was no future for the region. All outside contact with the world was nearly lost.

The loss struck home for many including a young Commander Kreft who lost many in his family who were on both sides of the conflict. Notably it seems the loss of his Verlotion wife led him to abandon his training at the Kiu War Academy.

There are conflicting reports from that time, but it is clear that Kreft organized a small black-clad guerilla group that employed the stealth tactics of the Juoi and the more advanced automatic weaponry of the Verlotions.

Attacks occurred throughout the region on structures of military importance, crippling both Verlotion and Juoi armies and militias. In a years time, he had amassed an army of fighters that was more powerful than either side and held popular support due to it's unwavering defense of the people forgotten by generals for so long.

Leaders in both camps had little choice but to sign a peace agreement and establish a ruling council. Kreft made sure the Black Guard, as the guerilla army came to be know, did not interfere in political affairs but did retain the spokesman role for the region when contact was reestablished with the world. In recent years following the Trioni War, Kreft has stepped aside and Commander Rosado has taken his place. Kreft remains a public spokesman and diplomat.

Today, the coalition stands as a voice for peace. The military remains a significant shaper of daily life though their numbers rest primarily in citizen's militias, coordinated by Black Gaurd veterans.

The Coalition has a strong dislike for Packilvania and its allies, though it is always veiled in diplomacy. This stems from an early invasion attempt by Packilvania due to repeated negative press that came from Wachovia and was widely distributed in the region. This distrust leads leaders of the two nations to continually find themselves at odds on regional issues. It was also part of the escalating factors in The Trioni War

People Groups of The Coalition

Verlotion: Once ruled by a feudal king and his nobles, this people is known for their large stonework castles that dot the green hills of Verlot. Verlot territories are in the northwest of the current coalition territories.

Juoi: (pronounced Jew-oy) Once ruled by a powerful matriarch, these tribal people are noted for their use of stealth in warfare and a very decentralized network of villages scattered through the lush jungles of Juoi lands. Juoi territories are in the southwest of the current coaltion territories. 133 of EP map.

Truczon: (pronounced truce-on) Tribal peoples of varied cultures that share only a ruling tribal council that ties them together. 131 of TEP map.

Merna: Tribal peoples of varied cultures with a shared linguistic heritage. 134 of TEP map.

Brewar: Tribal peoples of varied cultures with a shared linguistic heritage. 125 of TEP map.

House of Brinwar: noble house that has a historical fued with the old Verlotion nobility. 132 on TEP map.

Government of The Coalition

The Wachovia Coalition has been ruled by a representative council ever since the the Kabuverdianu War. Equal representation from each region meets on a rotating basis in each of the five major territories to vote on matters of national consequence and to maintain the ties between the very diverse peoples of the region.

Commander Rosado was the public representative of the region and the head of the region's military until a recent and sudden disappearance of most civilians of the region. On occasion the council modified the power of the commander but commanders such as Kreft have proven to be a moderate voice that is trusted by the member peoples, largely due to his neutral role in the Kabuverdianu War.

At present, Commander Rainier is the acting head of the Wachovian Black Guard that maintains the borders and largely uninhabited jungles of coalition lands. It is expected that one day the civilians of the region will return, but little is known beyond that.

Defense Forces

The people of The Wachovia Coalition, especially those from the jungle regions, place a high cultural value on the use of natural means over mechanical. The rise of the Black Guard came with a recognition that these values need to be balanced with the defense for all things natural. Still the progress towards a more advanced military has come slowly and largely due to the generosity of other nations who valued the moderate, neutral and peace-loving stance of the coalition. The known resources of the coalition defenses thus far:

Black Guard Space and Air Units

  • IL Battlestar - Titan (presumed missing)
  • ? Orbital Shuttles
  • ? Viper Squadrons
  • ? Stealth Air Units

Ground Units

  • Unclear

Tribal Defense Forces Before the disappearance of the civilian population, there were small internal forces supported by the various people-specific councils. Though their weapons were minimal, they were capable of civil defense in times of need.

Affiliations

The Wachovia Coalition has had a long-standing allegiance to 1 Infinite Loop and the Loop territories. It was 1 Infinite Loop that first defended a young coalition from rampaging Packilvanian forces. 1 Infinite Loop continues to provide significant defense assistance.

The Coalition also has some ties to nations of The South Pacific, largely due to an invitation from Lady Rebels to visit in the early years of the Coalition. Coalition citizens are regularly found in the region and some have gained employment there.

International Role of the Coalition

The Coalition regularly sends representatives to inter-pacific events to represent the nation and the region. Such representatives are currently at work in regions such as The West Pacific, The Pacific, The North Pacific, The South Pacific and The Realm of Criminology. Most often their work is part of an unofficial attempt to foster better relations between the Pacifics, to help younger nations or to serve the interests of global understanding.

In the past, both the nation of Kabuverdianu and the coalition have sent Kreft to aid the region as the UN Liaison for The East Pacific. Currently, there are citizens from The Wachovia Coalition functioning as ambassadors-at-large for the region and as acting as acting assistant to the consul.

Errata

  • As is the custom in The South Pacific, the player behind the nation is sometimes called "Wachovia."
