Sir Thierry del Moray is a prominent Pantocratorian businessman and New Rome society figure. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Peacock Holdings Group and is the de facto public face of the Peacock family of businesses, which includes some of the largest businesses in Pantocratoria in almost every industry, especially the manufacturing sector. He is a noted philanthropist, supporting a variety of charities both domestic and international, most notably the Cardinal Duras Memorial Fund, to whose board he was appointed in 2004.

Family and Early Life

Sir Thierry was born in Phociople, a distinct municipality in greater New Rome (nominally a distinct city but practically more of an outer suburb of the capital). His father, Louis del Moray, was already a successful entrepreneur at the time of Sir Thierry's birth. Through his father, Sir Thierry is descended from Luciano del Moray, an Italian conductor who immigrated to Pantocratoria in the early 18th Century to serve as the maestro of the Imperial Court Orchestra of Emperor Manuel V. The rest of the del Moray family followed Luciano to Pantocratoria, and quickly became established in New Rome society circles. Sir Thierry's mother, Helen, was the daughter of the former Imperial Patriotic Party Mayor of Phociople, jean-Constantine Menocles.

Education

Sir Thierry attended St Joseph's School, Phociople for his primary education and Sacred Heart College, Thyrantion on La Côte d'Est as a border for his secondary education. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Christ Pantocrator at New Rome, where he studied Arts and Commerce, graduating with second class honours.

Business Career

Sir Thierry shared his father's business acumen, and thanks to a trust fund exceeding a million ducats to which Sir Thierry had access upon the completion of his education he was able to start building an investment portfolio which was to capitalise his future business endeavours. By 1988, the combined worth of Sir Thierry's businesses was estimated by the Imperial Monitor newspaper as being somewhere in excess of fifty million ducats. In 1989 Sir Thierry launched an hostile takeover bid for Consolidated Gas and Resources Inc, one of Pantocratoria's largest domestic primary resources concerns. The takeover was successful, instantly making Sir Thierry Pantocratoria's most successful corporate raider.

In 1992 Sir Thierry was hired by Peacock Holdings Group as its Executive Vice President. As part of the terms of his employment, Peacock Holdings Group purchased Sir Thierry's share in Consolidated Gas and Resources Inc for nearly one and a half times what Sir Thierry had paid for it. As the Executive Vice President of Peacock Holdings, Sir Thierry oversaw the takeovers of agribusiness giants like Drakopolis Abatoirs, Southern Smallgoods Inc, and Madame Belle's Inc. He was responsible for the creation of a new child company which produced processed foodstuffs called Peacock Foods, now one of Peacock Holdings' most valuable companies. In 1998, Sir Thierry was made the Chief Executive Officer of Peacock Holdings, making him Pantocratoria's youngest major company CEO.

As CEO, Sir Thierry presided over a period of record growth for Peacock Holdings, keeping the profits of the Peacock family of businesses about even despite significant retraction in Peacock Motors, which struggled in the first years of the 21st century as the Pantocratorian automobile market became diluted by foreign imports. He was put into a very difficult position when Princess Christiana of Excalbia launched a hostile takeover bid for Peacock Holdings Group as a response to the participation of its subsidiary Peacock Housing in New Constantinople's infamous Rent Day (see Chains of Decadence). Sir Thierry was able to work with Princess Christiana to ensure that her objectives in purchasing such a large share in Peacock Holdings Group were satisfied without costing Peacock Motors its de facto control over the majority of the business. The takeover bid had enough of an impact, however, that Peacock Motors was unable to make up for its soft performance in the 2004-2005 financial year through relying on strong performance from Peacock Holdings, and was forced to significantly downsize is operations in Pantocratoria, moving much of its manufacturing off-shore to Allanea, where Peacock Motors was able to pay its workers significantly less and reduce the regulatory and safety overheads of its manufacturing operations.
