Thorin is a small region consisting of 13 nations.

The wonderful region of Thorin is a huge, ranging plain, divided in half by a majestic mountain range, which divides the region into the sub-regions of Haekaz and Zirconia. One incredible feature concerning Thorin is its abnormally large forests. Forests stretching hundreds of miles in all directions are scattered across the region of Thorin. As for the mountain range, named Thornichi after the nomadic tribes that entered the region and made it their home, great deposits of extremely heavy materials have been found, such as gold and silver. Although the mountains are constantly mined, remarkably wildlife still prospers within the range. What is perhaps even more intriguing is that within icy mountain caves, remarkable archaeological finds were made by an escapade entailing representatives from the nations of Thingamajiggers, Neonne, Xerconia and, although reluctantly, Romborg. These finds brought evidence of Thornichi habitation in the mountains, by all tribes, as starting much earlier than previously thought. The current delegate of Thorin is the Most Serene Republic of Algolian.

The founder of this crop-rich land, the Republic of Meredeth, has ceased to exist.

The government hovers around between types of Left-Wing governments and "Inoffensive Centrist Democracy", in part because of the over reactive population, and part because the people choose stupid issues to bring up to the government, and in part because of luck.

Daiverter

The People's Republic of Daiverter is a huge, safe nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 269 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Defence and Education are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 71%, and even higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is led by the Gambling industry, followed by Beef-Based Agriculture and Arms Manufacturing.

Billions of Daichens are being blown on orbital weapons development, UFO sightings are listed daily in the morning news, the country is preparing for war, and local executives are seen on the corner with cardboard signs reading "will oppress the masses for food". Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Daiverter's national animal is the Tiger, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Daichen.

The Oppressed Peoples of Lugonomeks is a huge, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. It has always wavered between "Inoffensive Centrist Democracy and "New York Times Democracy", except for a brief time in its early history when it was classified as "Democratic Socialists". The people of Lugonomeks have always have always believed in having many political freedoms. Civil rights have always been equally good, but the economy has sometimes varied. According to tradition, the Lugonomeks have lived in the region now known as Thorin for millenia, but were slowly forced out and subverted by the invading Thornichi, until now. The current population is 475 million. Its national animal and main food source is the black chickencrabdodo, and its currency is the guloran.

The Democratic Kingdom of New Valhall is a massive, socially progressive nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates and ruled by king Sahrimnir. It has a population of 1.441 billion, which enjoys "very good" civil rights and "very good" political freedoms, as well as a "strong" economy. It is ranked by the UN as a "Democratic Socialists". Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. It's national animal is the undead pig, and the currency is the balder.

The Terra Solva of Thingamajiggers is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Categorized by the UN as a "left-leaning college state", it has superb civil rights and political freedoms. Obviously the oldest place in modern Thorin, Thingamajiggers has a population of 2.837 billion people. This is probably what has caused it to become the regional super-power. Thingamajiggers came into being when an earlier nation, Thingamajigs, ceased to exist. The Rogue Nation of Thingamajigs dated back to the time of the original founding of Thorin. Thingamajiggers and the Empire of Xerconia were once in a fierce cold war, although when it ended they became allies, although relations between the two powers were strained due to the large differences in the countries' ruling styles. The national animal is the spotted eel, and its currency is the Modarch. The ruler of Thingamajiggers is known as the Karnbeln.

Wylest

The Incorporated States of Wylest is a huge, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its burgeoning buck population. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 306 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. Wylest's national animal is the buck, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the buck.

Xerconia

The former UN delegate of Thorin, The Empire of Xerconia is a Corporate Police State with almost no civil rights and no political freedoms. Xerconia is a highly extremist nation with low tax rates and wavering laws that always seem to contradict. Xerconia has a thriving economy that is matched only by the Constitutional Monarchy of Romborg. Xerconia spends more than half of their expenditures on militaristic defence and law and order, and are quick to respond when a neighbouring nation acts out of place.
