His Imperial Majesty Tsar Alexander III Alexandrovich (b. March 24th, 2007) is the current ruler on the throne of The Valerian Empire. He is the third monarch from House of Borivich-Vassilakos-Seleukios to rule The Grand Empire of Magnus Valerius.

Early Life

Alexander III was born in the Imperial Palace at Isangrad on March 24th, 2007, to Tsar Alexander II Alexandrovich and his wife, Sophia Petrovgradsky. As the only son and first of two children, Alexander was no less than spoiled by his father and smother by his mother's care and affection. When he was first taking lessons, he was known to fling spitballs at his tutors and mock them.

When Alexander began to mature, he began to develop his ego even further. He was ashamed of himself as he noticed that he developed a short, meek, wiry frame in comparison to the imposing, broad-shouldered, tall frames that are a typical feature of men from the House of Borivich-Vassilakos-Seleukios. He took out his anger on his peers and even once on his sister, Breanna. Alexander's behavior was reprimanded and he was forced to join the military. Before he did, however, he fell in love with Yekaterina, the daughter of a petty noble. He married her in 2025 and as soon as he ended his military service, he joined her again. It seems that Yekaterina mellowed out the young and fiery-tempered prince, and they had eleven children:

  • Ivan Alexandrovich, the heir apparent (b. 2027)
  • Constantina Alexandrovna (b. 2027), wife of King George III of Brasland.
  • Charlotte Alexandrovna (b. 2028)
  • Sophia Alexandrovna (b. 2029)
  • Peter Alexandrovich (b. 2031)
  • Aleksei Alexandrovich (b. 2033)
  • Grigori Alexandrovich (2034 - 2040); died of tuberculosis.
  • Victoria Alexandrovna (b. 2037)
  • Jessica Alexandrovna (b. 2039)
  • Nicole Alexandrovna (b. 2040)
  • Maria Alexandrovna (b. 2042)

Ascension to the Throne

In 2045, Tsar Alexander II died and Alexander was now to be coronated as Alexander III. The nation mourned the death of Alexander II and after the period of mourning passed, they soon questioned the new tsar's agendas and personality. Alexander III had kept a low profile before his ascension to the throne, making sure that all who knew about his rather hot temper and scandalous fits of rage at the court were kept silent. Alexander III rose to the throne of Magnus Valerius on January 26th, 2045, amidst pomp and praise of the clerics of the Valerian Orthodox Church. His coronation was attended by mostly Kuric and Gedonian delegates, but a few outsiders to attend were two delegates from Iansisle and The Archregimancy.

War With The Gull Flag Republic of Iansisle

Alexander III, wanting to be as notable as his predecessors, like George I, was hungry for fame and power. The power-hungry demagogue came to see an opportunity arise before him. When The Gull Flag Republic executed James I of Iansisle, Alexander saw it as an international atrocity and avowed avengement for the death of the king. He mobilized troops and created battle plans, mobilizing Magnus Valerius for a war. Under this motive, however, was Alexander's desire for international fame.

His desire to become powerful overwhelmed his senses. The Valerian people believed they were fighting for a just cause and to return order and the Callahans back into power in Iansisle, but Alexander III's true motives involved flexing Valeria's military muscle. He also had thoughts and delusions of becoming the saviour of The Iansislean Shield, or even becoming the new overlord or at least the protector of Iansisle.

To this day, the war carries on with uncertainty. Valerian fleets have prepared to strike Iansisle itself and its colonies, and the manpower reserves of the Empire continue to swell as more Valerians, eager to fight for their nation, make way for duty. The Imperial Fleet is also building up as well, steadily adding on new battleships, submersibles, cruisers, destroyers, and aircraft carriers.
