His Imperial Majesty Tsar Alexander II Borivich (August 12th 1984 - January 21st 2045) was Emperor of Magnus Valerius and Shorehaven (2012 - 2045) and the second emperor to be born from the House of Borivich-Vassilakos-Seleukios. His reign was a prosperous one for the empire, even though it left the empire in another period of isolation from international politics.

Early Life

Alexander II Alexandrovich was born in Borivich Selo, as the second child and first son of Alexander Borivich-Vassilakos-Seleukios and Constantina Meijidovna, the youngest daughter of Tsar Meijis I. Alexander II was given a life of luxury, but as a child he was exceptionally modest and enjoyed sharing what he had with the much poorer children of Borivich Selo whom he played with. Alexander also displayed his intelligence, as he was able to learn very quickly and often developed motor and some cognitive skills earlier than other children.

When Alexander entered high school, he earned high marks and was popular with the girls due to his handsome looks and charming wit. When Alexander was 16, Meijis I died without an acceptable male heir, and Alexander's father, being married to Meijis's eldest daughter, was crowned Tsar Alexander I; this made the young Alexander heir apparent to the throne of the empire. This brought grief to the teenager Alexander II, who had to leave Borivich Selo and all of his friends for Isangrad, the capital city of The Valerian Empire. His girlfriend, however, convinced her family to follow the new royal family to the capital, and this brought the Crown Prince some great relief. The Borivich family moved into the Imperial Palace on June 2nd, 2000. Soon after moving in, however, the emperor, Tsar Alexander I, declared war on a faction of nobles who wanted to secede from The Valerian Empire. Rockets launched by guerillas hit two of the bedrooms, which held the Constantina and Prince Alexander's two younger siblings, Sophie and Aleksei.

The death of half of the family brought much grief to everyone, but especially the Tsar Alexander I, whom went mad and soon took out his frustrations by assaulting royal guests with dining chairs and yelling at both young Alexander and his older sister, Theodora. Alexander I also took up drinking, which added another trouble to the royal family.

Luckily, in 2005, things were looking up for the younger Alexander (the Prince). He married his longtime love, Sophia Petrovgradsky. Together they had two children:

Alexander II's Succession to the Throne and Reign

When Alexander I died of liver failure, Prince Alexander II Alexandrovich was coronated at St. Gregory Cathedral in Isangrad the new Tsar. His first order for the empire was to vastly modernize the empire and its infrastructure, which was rather behind in the times. The "New City" of Isangrad was invested in and was soon filled with brand new glass skyscrapers and thousands of offices sprouted up in the capital; the population of the city and its metropolitan area thus grew quickly from 11 million in 2012 to nearly 27 million in 2045, more than doubling in a little over three decades.

Isangrad was not alone in its growth; the empire was experiencing prosperity under the first years of the emperor's reign. The economy grew substantially and big corporations established themselves as world-wide competitors, especially Magnus Valerius's steel conglomerate, Valeririjk. Alexander II, though, tried to keep this growth in check by passing new environmental regulations to keep the beautiful landscape of the empire pristine from industrial waste.

Alexander II was also a champion of education and greatly increased the funding of the education system of the empire; the children of Magnus Valerius were earning the highest marks out of every other child in the region. Classrooms were ensured to be hospitable, and enough schools were built to prevent overcrowding. Universities were also made to be much cheaper as well, and under Alexander II's reign, college graduation numbers reached an all-time high.

Later Years and Death

As Alexander aged, he took on an isolationist policy and cut off contact from every other nation except for the nations amongst the Kuric and Gedonian continents. Diplomacy suffered greatly as Magnus Valerius withdrew for over a decade from international politics. This caused bewilderment amongst the populace, who desired for Magnus Valerius to spread its wings in diplomacy after the historically long period of isolation that occured from the reign of Valens II to the final years of Meijis I.

Alexander suffered a stroke when he was 60, leaving him crippled and disabled. He was still capable of ruling, but his days were numbered. On January 21st, 2045, he died of a massive brain aneurysm and left the throne of The Valerian Empire to his son.
