City of Turath

The capital of the Province of Ax-turath is Turath. Turath is the modern incarnation the ancient capital of the Dth'gari Nation, T'rathi. T'rathi was a massive military installation, with many settlements hidden throughout the rough, difficult terrain. Over the years, and following the fall of the Dth'gari Nation, the name 'T'rathi' became 'Turath' - becoming partly 'Quenyarized', and gaining the Quenya stem 'Tur', related to power.

Turath today is the home of no less than nine IDF GF bases, which in turn are home to seven armoured divisions and five infantry divisions. There are also at least three IDF AF airfields, plus the IDF N Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Dockyards: three massive waterside construction/repair facilities that service the entire ICEL wet navy.

Yet it is no longer a simple military installation; indeed, a great many of the population of the city are involved with the military somehow - there are also IDF factories and a numbr of IDF Research&Development facilities - but it is also a center for trade, culture, and industry. It is a massive city stretching the full length of the Ax-turathian side of the Bay of Turath, divided into various regions and sub-regions; some of these regions in fact are considered by the inhabitants to be independant of the city proper, and many of the people in the sub-regions likewise think such of their sub-regions in relation to the regions. The rivalries are old and mostly stem from old 'house' traditions regarding who lived on what land; most of the population in Turath, however, have no blood ties to the people who once lived there: the vast majority of the non-military population of Turath belong to Great House Menjda, although the majority of the military stationed in Turath are Great House Dth'gar members.

As with all of the cities in the ICEL, Turath has an intricate but well-signed transport network, involving both public and private transportation. Skycars - especially the ever-popular magnetic-impetus-propelled skycar, the Rivette Rotor - are a common and often preferred method of transport inside the city, but access to the city by skycars not registered to that area is only granted during office hours.

Turath has a population of around two hundred seventy five million Sentients at any one time.
