History of Tzorsland

The Nation of Tzorsland was founded by Franciscan Friars from a number of smaller nations which included the Kingdom of Tzor. They then moved the capital from Eyesore to the current location of Capital city to the west of the nation. Soon afterwards they delegated their authority to a monastic by the name of the Meddling Monk who brought in his own cabinet to Capital City.

United Nations

Under the guidance of the Meddling Monk, Tzorsland joined the United Nations. Later it assumed the position of regional delegate, but a technical error by UN gnomes caused the position to be vacant and the regional delegate position went to Davane. Eventually Tzorsland resigned from the United Nations to make way for Retired Werepenguins to apply for membership. It has remained a rogue state ever since.

Regions

Tzorsland has outlived several regions. The first region was the Contient of Niftyonia. Although it lasted several years after the demise of the region's founder, eventualy Tzorsland was left alone and moved to the UNOG Works Canteen. Here too the region's founder vanished and all the nations left the region for greener pastures. Tzorsland turned the lights out and moved to the region of New York where it currently resides.

Formation of Nations

The Free Land of Retired WerePenguins was formed from retiring WerePenguin officers of Tzorsland’s Navy who moved to the Antarctic Oasis. The council of Franciscans, greatly upset by laws passed as a result of United Nations membership managed to get an autonomous nation called The Free Land of Frustrated Franciscans. It is not known how the creation of Blue Booted Bobbies from the sleeply little city of Penzance came to be associated with the Tzorsland clan, but we suspect that it might have involed the work of the Mikado who apparently once amused Queen Victoria, but only briefly.

Military Coup

Recently Tzorsland’s military cracked down on the government. As a result power was redistributed among the Prime Minister, President, and King. All existing treaties are still in effect and it remains to be seen if anyone will actually notice anything as a result of it.

Major cities

There are three major cities in Tzorsland and a number of minor ones. Eyesore is the home to the King and Queen and every October the royal couple returns to the ancient palace to greet various dignitaries and to host various ceremonies. It is also the location of the first Franciscan church; St. Philomena. Garden City is the technological center of the nation and home to the ministry of science, under the direction of The Rani. Capital City is the current seat of the government.

The King and Queen of Tzor

The first King of Tzor, oddly enough named Harold II, came to Tzor from a far off land where it was said his father King Harold was killed by an arrow in the eye from invaders from the south who took his throne. Since then, with only a few exceptions, it has been the custom for the royal family to name every first born son Harold. (In one case the second born son was chosen because he had the correct name. In another case William changed his name so as to not to cause controversy. In both cases Harold was not chosen because it was thought the boy would die in infancy.) The last true King of Tzor, Harold XII, fell to Franciscan Forces in A Very Hasty Battle a very long time ago. The current King of Tzor is Harold XVI. The current Queen of Tzor is Mildred.

Due to a limited budget, the palace at Eyesore is only occupied in the month of October, when the King and Queen greet dignitaries and pretend as though they actually run the nation. The rest of the year, the palace is a tourist attraction and houses a number of exhibits including the famous “Bye Bye Blues” tapestry depicting the fall of Harold XII.

The Mikado of Titipu

Prior to the expansion of Tzor, the second largest land in the region was that of Titipu, ruled by a succession of Mikado’s. A series of cultural initiatives managed to restore the lost culture of the smaller empire and the heir to the Mikado throne now has a ceremonial position in regional affairs. Unfortunately the current position is not as flashy as that of the King of Tzor and as a result the current Mikado must resort to playing second trombone at tea houses around Garden City in order to make ends meet.
