The seccession movement ultimately led to a civil war between the states of Saxon Westphalia and the rest of Germany, eventually followed by a ceasefire and truce between the combatants after Saxon Westphalia's wartime government was overthrown in a coup. However, Saxon Westphalia's new government continues to debate internationally over property claims, border controls, jurisdiction, and the like, particulary with Germany.
