The Confederacy of Saxon Westphalia (German: Die Konföderation Sachsen-Westfalens, French: La Confédération de Saxe-Westphalie) is a confederation of former German federal states (Länder), specifically Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Bremen and North Rhine-Westphalia , which seceded from the Federal Republic of Germany in 1992. The seccession movement ultimately led to a civil war between the states of Saxon Westphalia and the rest of Germany, eventually followed by a ceasefire and truce between the combatants after Saxon Westphalia's wartime government was overthrown in a coup. However, Saxon Westphalia's new government continues to debate internationally over property claims, border controls, jurisdiction, and the like, particulary with Germany.
