The Beautiful Empire of Orioni (Latin: Imperium Orionam Decorus), commonly referred to as Orioni (o·ri·o·ni; pronounced /ɒɹiːɒniː/), is a country situated primarily in central Europa, and which is further made up of a collection of overseas territories located in other parts of the region.
The mainland extends from the Terranean Sea in the south to the Narrow Strait in the north. Orioni is bordered by Vanarambaion (with a land border halfway the bridge), Argenland, San Ba (also with a border halfway the bridge) and Phil IV. In some of its overseas parts, Orioni also shares land borders with: Karthenia, Tagmatium, Adaptus, and Tamurin.
Orioni is a democracy organised as a combination of a constitutional monarchy and a democratic parliamentary federal republic. It is a highly developed country with one of the largest economies in Europa, with a strong maritime-commercial base. At one time, most overseas territories were directly administered by officials appointed by the Orioni government. Today, however, most overseas territories are self-governing colonies, only relying on the motherland for defence, foreign affairs, and some trade issues.
The name Orioni originates from the first Empress Orioni Nabérrie. Some also claim the name originated from the Akkadian godess Uru-anna ('the light of heaven'). The country celebrates it's national holiday on the birthday of the ruling empress, which currently is december 8th.

Geography and climate
Terrain
Orioni contains a large variety of landscapes. Being located on the central peninsula means that central Orioni is dominated by hill country of more then 500 m above sealevel, and in some other elevated regions even 2000 m, such as the Westfold and the Atlas.
The northern part of the country contains temperate forestland and rolling hills, with a strong agricultural inprint on the northern plains and along the river Nordfjord.
In the south, along the shores of the Terranean Sea, are found extensive and densely populated alluvial plains of the Orionoco and the Swan River, combined with lower mountain ranges in the Valley of Dionysus to the east. This fertile valley in the southeastern part of the country is curtailed by the Mountains of Rain, a mountain range that forms an enclosing arc, and also contains the countries highest point, Mount Dionysion at 4802 m.
Offshore to the southwest lies the mountanous island Vega, currently in use as a lage naval station.

Flora
Many lush broad-leaved trees grow in the northern forest, where the pink fluffy dinosaur dwells. Most of the country is covered underneath these lush green giants. There are vineyards on the southeastern mountainflanks, with nice climate. The pink fluffy dinosaur, which frolics freely in Orioni's many lush forests, is the nation's national animal.

Customs and identity
The peoples of Orioni feel very close to nature, especially to the sea. That is why darkblue/purple is the predominant color for many of the national symbols.
The national flag for example mainly consists of a blue left eye which is partially hidden behind a purple veil. If one looks closer at this symbolic representation, you can recongnise that the blue and white of the eye resemble the earth. Many believe that this has to do with the inhabitants' open and pacifist mentality. At the left-hand side of the flag are three small rectangles:
- Top: flag of Belgium (OOC: which represents my native country).
- Middle: flag of Europa (which represents the bond with Europa).
- Bottom: flag of the UN (to show the status of delegate).

The national holiday is celebrated each year on the 8th of december. During the week ahead and on the day itself, the national anthem will be played everywhere while everyone sings and dances whenever they have any spare time.

The nation is designated by the UN as democratic socialists with very good political freedoms and excellent civil rights. It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins.

Role of the Empress

The head of state has always been a member of the imperial family. The leadership is passed on via matriarchal blood ties: it is inherited from mother upon daughter. (Note: the mother does not always have to die to pass on the title, old age or ilness are also a reason.) For as long as Orioni existed, there has always been an empress to lead them. The empress is always named "Orioni", representing the personification of the entire country by one person. The current Empress Orioni is rather young of age, due to the sudden decease of her mother.

The court deals with imperial and constitutional matters, and can declare legislation or executive action made at any level of the government as unconstitutional, nullifying the law and creating precedent for future law and decisions. Below the Palace of Justice are the Halls of Justice, and below them in turn are the Houses of Justice, which are the general trial courts for law.

In an effort to bring the European nations closer together, the government of Orioni seeks to create a commercial alliance with other European nations. This alliance is to carry the name European Commercial Alliance (E.C.A.). Within it shall be all nations who volunteer to be a member of this ECA. The main focus is commerce: the free movement of goods between the E.C.A. countries. This means that all members agree to a equalization of tax, tariff and trade. The ECA will be a commercial alliance but will NOT be a political instrument. It is not the objective of this alliance to influence of determine a country's government policy.
