Economy

Abt is a dynamically developing economy, which has seen a boom following the defeat of the Sons of the Reformation and an advent of stability and security all over the country. The Abtian financial centres attract investors with relatively low taxes and preferential interest rates. Whilst not being an economic superpower, Abt is none the less a firm player amongst the first world countries.

Demographics

The quasi-entirety of the population is of Taraskovyan Russian or other Slavic origins. A non-Slavic minority also exists, namely in the face of a Taraskath community. The population continues to grow, thanks to an influx of migrants from Taraskovya and, in a smaller part, from other countries.

The overwhelming majority of the republic’s population dwells on the shores of the Abt Bay, with a thin population stretched over the rest of the territory. The Government has undertaken a number of steps to populate the western reaches. The city of Vladiles was founded in central Abt to act as a major population and industrial centre of the Republic. The city of Podgorie was founded in the footsteps of the Sahori Range to serve as a main population hub in the western reaches of the Republic.

Language

The language spoken by the majority population is Russian, which is also the official language. Various minority languages also exist, with some mass media in Taraskath, Serbovian and Polavian languages having a steady audience. English is also widely spoken due to proximity with the Confederated Peoples and is popular in the business circles and some mass media.

Religion

The Abtian Orthodox Church, an exarchate of the Taraskovyan Church, is the State Church of the Republic. The majority of the population are of Orthodox faith, but small minorities of other faiths also exist. Freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Constitution, even if the Republic's legislation is ruthless to any person or organisation that tries to abuse that freedom. As such, organisations that promote religious violence and intolerance are outright banned.

Military

The Abt Republic Defence Force (Russian: Оборонные Войска Республики, literally "Republic's Defence Forces") is a comparatively small professional military force. It is charged with defending the Republic against threats originating outside Abtian borders, restoring peace within the Republic should the regular law enforcement services be overwhelmed, provide emergency and relief assistance to the population.

The ARDF is also seen by Abtians as a symbol of their sovereignty and independence. "Made of Abtians and for Abtians!" is a de-facto motto of the armed forces, surely referring to the fact that they no longer have to serve any masters but themselves (they still have to follow their hierarchy, though).
