The first Season of the One-Day League in Cockbill Street, one of four competitions in county cricket in Cockbill Street, was won by Jotneheim with a game to spare, taking their third of four possible titles and completing an excellent season. There was a fight between Jotneheim and Wynshire, but when Wynshire lost their head-to-head match by three wickets, the rest of the season became fairly academic, as Jotneheim eased to the required victories. The final margin of two points was the result of Jotneheim giving up in the fourteenth round, when they had already taken the title.

Matchday one

Eric Crosse and Geoff Sandiford took four wickets each to reduce CSCT to 246 all out, then had to have help from Stuart Wylie and Joanna Hales to save the victory - the last-wicket partnership of 66 won the match for Wynshire. Northset took an unexciting 21-run win over the dwarves, while the trolls beat Woodshire after James Powys had made an unbeaten 150, the highest score of the round. Harold Hanbury took four for 19 as Ayreshire recorded a big win over Rothershire, Ewan Crosbie making 78 not out to see them go top of the table.

Thus, Wynshire took over the lead in the table. CSCT's Charles Head turned the game with B'zugda'hiara around, as he got two important wickets for 14, helping as they crashed to 179, and Jon Kimber did the rest with 59 not out. Meanwhile, Woodshire collapsed to their third defeat in a row, despite William Mason taking three for 26, as Northset won by two wickets. A big partnership of 173 between Bjorn Spearthrower and Lars Bearhugger resulted in the dwarves making 316 for 4, yet they were chased down with four balls to spare - Goethite making 98 not out. Meanwhile, Ayreshire recorded their first loss as Chris Pritchard took care of Ayreshire's batting line-up with three for 20 for CSCT, and they chased the target with nine balls to spare.

Niter then smashed 80 not out to take them past the target in a see-sawing game, the ninth-wicket partnership yielding 74 runs. Ayreshire definitely ran out of form, Ginny Seymour making 79 but outwitted by Petteri Goldthrower, who took four for 25 as B'zugda'hiara won by 22 runs, Ayreshire collapsing from 149 for 1 to 234. Woodshire were guilty of poor bowling management and slow scoring as they crashed to another defeat, by seven wickets to CSCT, George Bradley making 126 not out with the bat and taking two for 36 with the ball. Rothershire, meanwhile, had Eric Robertson smash his way to an unbeaten 182 - the highest score of the season so far - and setting a target of 296, only to see Ryan Johnston taking it out of their hands with a unbeaten century of his own.

Matchday five

Petter Stonelover served up the bowling performance of the season against Rothershire, taking six for 8 with only Howard Clare resisting with 42 - Rothershire could only set a target of 84, which was all too easy, and B'zugda'hiara's season suddenly looked ok - while Rothershire headed to their fifth successive defeat. William Mason took four for 14 as Wynshire made 223 against Woodshire - Michael Harris scoring 63 - and a ton from Warwick Douglas sent Woodshire to their first one-day win, despite four wickets in six overs from Tara Heighes. George Bradley served up yet another good bowling performance as Jotneheim were bowled out for 214 at the VCG, Bradley taking three for 36, but Harmotome bowled four maidens and took three for 17 as CSCT crumbled to 118 for 9. Their unbeaten last-wicket partnership of 79 - a record - couldn't take them all the way, as Jotneheim recorded their fifth straight win. Wickets fell at a canter for Northset, who could only muster 173 for 8 as their bowlers were tied down, and Ewan Crosbie made his third fifty as Ayreshire made it to the target.

Matchday six

Eric Crosse bowled well enough to take four for 27 as Ayreshire crumbled to 92 for 7, but they were let off the hook, Oliver Hoare making a run-a-ball 81. However, Tara Heighes smacked an unbeaten century as Wynshire won by nine wickets. William Mason's fast bowling scared the living daylight out of the dwarves, as he had five dwarves for ducks in his extra-terrestrial spell of 3.4-2-4-5. After Andri Bjornsson had taken four for 40 in Woodshire's innings, it was a good revenge, as Woodshire won by eighty runs. Rothershire were outclassed by CSCT, Eric Blundell making an unbeaten 59 while Tony Thompson took four for 30 in the Rothershire collapse to 170. On a slow pitch in Chesham, Jotneheim could only scrape 203 for 8 as all the Northset bowlers got wickets, and a sixth-wicket partnership of 78 between Ben Fenner and Alan Cass won them the game with a bit more than four overs to spare, Jotneheim's first loss.

Matchday seven

Tara Heighes had been promoted from two to one following her unbeaten century against Ayreshire, and against a bowling attack including Petter Stonelover, Petteri Goldthrower and Per Bearslayer, she made 150 not out off 163 balls as Wynshire smashed 304 for 2. Heighes and Thomas Elderkin paired up for 272 for the first wicket, a one-day league record. Despite a healthy attempt from the dwarves, B'zugda'hiara were set back by good bowling from Eric Crosse, who took three for 57, and Tara Heighes also bowled some death overs to good effect. After William Mason's stunning bowling effort the other day, most hoped for a similar effort against rock-bottom Rothershire, but Woodshire didn't stand up with bat nor ball as they were beaten by four wickets, as Rothershire won their first match in seven attempts. The first tie of the season came at the VCG, Northset's Diana Voss making 148 not out from number three to lift Northset to 296 for 5, then having CSCT on the rack at 205 for 7 after William Chandler took four for 47, but James Brooks and Charles Head ensured that the game was tied with an eighth-wicket partnership of 91. Jotneheim came back on track with a thumping 76-run victory over Ayreshire, Goethite scoring his second century with 101 to cement his position as the highest run-scorer this season.

Matchday eight

An unbeaten ton from Michael Harris rescued Wynshire from hostile bowling at the VCG, and the hosts CSCT crumbled to Tara Heighes' left-arm swing bowling, which yielded three for 36. Thus Wynshire kept up with Jotneheim at the top. B'zugda'hiara beat Northset in a wholly unremarkable game at Chesham, while William Mason set his radar correct again to take four for 16 against Jotneheim - helped by off-spinner James Powys, who took three for 37. However, Woodshire imploded to 99 for 7, three run-outs destroying them as they finished on 193. A massive score from Ayreshire, batting first, meant that the chase was always going to be difficult, and Ginny Seymour rounded Rothershire up with a hat-trick, finishing with four for 13.

Matchday nine

Wynshire were put in to bat by Northset captain Alan Cass at Chesham, and after Fred Borrington amassed 96 not out off 53 balls, supported by 75 from Tara Heighes, Wynshire were in a good position. Gavin Kruskopf and Warren Allsopp both made centuries, but in the end, Tara Heighes' economical bowling (one for 37 off 9 overs) made the difference as Wynshire kept up the chase. Ginny Seymour batted Woodshire out of the game, as she made 86 off 80 balls, and then bowled three maidens as Woodshire were tied down to 236 for 6. All the dwarf bowlers fired at the VCG, as they bowled CSCT out for 108, and then imploded to Geroge Bradley's fast bowling - he took six for 14 as B'zugda'hiara imploded to 90. Peter Gruggen made an unbeaten 150 as Rothershire amassed 287 for 6, and despite an unbeaten ton from Jotneheim's star batsman, Goethite, Rothershire won by fifteen runs and brought excitement to the title fight.

Matchday ten

Harmotome and Dravite took seven wickets between them as Jotneheim humiliated the dwarves, bowling them out for 62. The chase was easy enough, as Jotneheim won by nine wickets - taking a massive net run-rate out of the game, to regain the league lead. Wynshire kept up, though, as they squeezed past Rothershire in a nail-biter, winning by six wickets as Fred Borrington and Michael Harris upped the rate near the end to win by an over. Northset were bowled out by Woodshire, but it cost 280 runs, and their fragile batting line-up were never anywhere near chasing it. CSCT recovered from a spot of poor batting form, George Bradley and Jon Kimber never quivering after they lost William Mackle for a duck early on, and Kimber eventually made 143 not out off only 97 balls - the century came off 72 balls, a new record.

Matchday eleven

The title would be decided in the big Troll Oval, Wynshire batting first against Jotneheim. However, despite Greg Lee's valiant efforts with 71 from number six, Wynshire crumbled hopelessly against the Jotneheim bowling, and despite Joanna Hales taking three for 42, Dravite's 36 not out - coupled with three for 34 earlier - saw Jotneheim to the three-wicket win, which would most likely result in another title for the trolls. Ayreshire thumped B'zugda'hiara thanks to a 70-ball century from Henry Paton, which lifted them to 344 for 5, and despite Andri Bjornsson making 114, Oliver Hoare got the better of the Ayreshire batsmen with five for 39. Maidens flourished at the VCG, as Woodshire somehow failed to chase 230 with nine wickets in hand - Warwick Douglas making 115 not out off 152 balls, with Dave Blenerhassett bowling five maidens in the chase! Wyona Mann took four for 34 and Diana Voss made 81 not out as Northset thumped Rothershire by eight wickets, keeping their hopes of a top-three finish alive.

Matchday twelve

Wynshire looked to have lost all confidence, as 102 from James Powys was enough to bat them out of the game against Woodshire. It wasn't even particularly good bowling from the Woodshire side, but Tara Heighes slowed the run-rate down with 36, and Woodshire escaped with a surprise seven-run win. The dwarves imploded with the bat yet again against Rothershire, losing by seven wickets despite Petteri Goldthrower bowling 5-4-7-2, while Jotneheim ensured themselves of the title after plundering runs off CSCT's bowler James Brooks to go to 322 for 8. Despite centuries from Eric Blundell and George Bradley, CSCT lost by 30 runs, and Jotneheim suddenly had a four-point gap at the top of the table. Northset, meanwhile, took their second easy chasing victory as Gavin Kruskopf made 143 not out and they won by nine wickets.

Matchday thirteen

Wynshire were in all kinds of trouble. As Henry Smith whipped through their batting order, taking four for 31, they must have been ruing their lost opportunities. Despite Eric Crosse, Fred Hinks and Joanna Hales combining to bowl Ayreshire out for 180, they knew they had no chance of catching Jotneheim. Andri Bjornsson's century nearly brought Woodshire back to earth, but Richard le Comber paced his chase well, as he made 172 in Woodshire's 296 for 2, Carl Nicholson ensuring a win on the last ball. CSCT, meanwhile, were decidedly unimpressive as left-arm spinner Ray Mumford walked through their middle-order, taking four for 23, and bowling them out for 121. Peter Gruggen made 66 in the reply, as CSCT got a painful loss on their backs. Ryan Johnston's unbeaten 93 put some pressure on Jotneheim's batting order, but the bowlers didn't back them up, and Jotneheim's title was beyond all theories of mathematics.

Meanwhile, Woodshire's Richard le Comber blasted his second century in as many weeks, while Kevin Kingdon smashed 75 not out off 35 balls - Richard Dutton conceding 103 off his ten overs, Michael Dobson 95, as Woodshire moved to 364 for 4. Four wickets from swing bowler Matthew Brown and three for 26 for William Mason wrapped up Rothershire for 165. Centuries from Warren Allsopp and Ryan Johnston ensured that Northset won the fight for third place with CSCT, despite Fred Mitchell making an unbeaten 108 from number six. For Jotneheim, it didn't really matter that Richard Phillips smacked 83 not out to win the match for Ayreshire by four wickets - they still took the title in style.
