The Holy Empire of Dreanger
History
Dreanger recently suffered from a massive civil war, between the Dreangerian Liberation Front (DLF) and the government. There was also a power struggle for the throne after the emperor was assasinated. Towards the twilight of the war, the government seemed on the brink of annhilating the DLF, when it turned out that the Prime Minister was really the head of the DLF. The DLF then laid waste to most of the Parliament, excepting a few individuals, who were allowed asylum in the New Holy Empire of Dreanger, led by Achilles IV. Unsubstantiated rumours state that the heir apparent, Julian II leads a revolution in the land controlled by the DLF. Dreanger and Duquadland almost came to blows after some unfortunate misunderstandings on both sides. Dreanger released information on a plot by the military to overthrow the government of Duquadland, believing it to be widespread knowledge by then. Dreanger also resented Duquadland for using its civil war as partial leverage for reviving SITO, by witholding any agreements for aid until SITO was revived. Wilkenstan was able to prevent any escalating hostilities by setting up both the League of Paris(region-wide alliance) and the MTO (Mediterranean Treaty Organization). After a failed attempt at aiding sides in the Wilkenstanian wars, the Holy Empire lost half of its remaining land due to a highly coordinated effort by the LLD-now Jibuwahanaa. It suffered a further blow when Wilkenstan recognized Jibuwahanaa's independence.
By the time of 2183, Dreanger has become an odd mix of theocracy and democracy, also having laid claim to a large number of Martian colonies, including control of Phobos and Deimos, with the descendents of Achilles IV and Julian II ruling from the two moons, respectively. They have become known as the Twin Thrones, the Living Emperor (or Emperor of Light) (Achilles IV's descendents)and the Dead Emperor (or Emperor of Darkness) (Julian II's descendents). Dreanger attempted to bypass the Ioan-Cereal space race by sending their own fleet, which was later sabotaged.
