On the night of 27 February the Reichstag building was set on fire, and inside a Dutch Anarcho-Syndicalist, van der Loewe was found. He was arrested and charged with starting the fire.Van der Lubbe was the patsy the '''NSGAP''' needed in order to convince the GroBdeutsches Reich people that communists were trying to take over. This event gave the NSGAP an excuse to act against the thousands of anarchists, socialists and communists scattered throughout the Reich, thus removing political dissidents. The event was quickly followed by the Reichstag Fire Decree, rescinding habeas corpus and other civil liberties.
