Melange
Melange or Spice is the soil in which the Sapho Orchid grows found only in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. It is notably one of the most nutrient rich soils on the face of the planet. It is also commonly used as a recreational and medicinal drug due to its ability to heal the body and increase neurological capacity.

Usage
Medicinal and registered use
In nations such as the Soviet Union melange is used for medical and governmental purposes to help treat certain diseases and increase intelligence. It is a proven fact that the ingestion of melange can increase immunity and prevent disease. It is also being tested amongst certain individuals within the Presidian Guard for Dystorium user detection.
If proven to allow the detection of those taking and not taking Dystorium, melange could become a mandated prescription among the social police.
Recreational use
Recreational use of melange is limited to the Soviet Union due to the low amount of melange in the world. It is used mostly among government and Party officials. Usually it is used - in this case - in its high-grade form. While medicinal melange is used in diluted pill form, high-grade melange is pure and taken in stick form.
Melange sticks are usually traced with a flavoring of some sort, ranging from cinnamon to pepper-mint. It is injest in coffee, sweets, or purely eaten in stick form.
Human evolution
A new theory of usage for melange has recently been gaining popularity amongst the scientific community. Doing exstensive testing on patients who take melange regularly has begun to show genetic mutations or evolutions. It appears that users of high dosages of melange can cause the genetic material to change or alter, resulting in a new mutation of the homo sapien.
Some state that melange is being used by a so-called secret society by the name of the WISEMEN to force the evolution of man. This is considered pure lies and slander by most of the international community. However, these mutations are still being researched to determine whether the mutations are consistent with an evolutionary path.
Affects of usage
Diluted
Most of the melange found around the world is diluted. Taking of diluted melange occurs mostly among patients and volunteers (a minor percentage is recreational). Ths affect of taking diluted melange is similar to the drinking of a cup of well-caffeinated coffee.
Most individuals who take diluted melange suffer no side effects and are pleasant and euphoric while under the influence.
Pure
The taking of pure melange is not recommended, but it is not necessarily dangerous. When taking pure melange and individual will suffer from minor hallucinations, euphoria, increased awareness, and a sense of enlightenment. It often relaxes the individual and allows them to calm down while remaining aware.
Side effects of taking pure melange varies wildly. Most commonly, however, the eyes seem to change in hue to a bright blue. Dilation is also great in most cases - but not in others.
Melange banning
Melange is banned in several countries, and heavily regulated in others. While accepted in several countries as a harmless - and even helpful - drug; other nations have completely banned its sale, manufacture, and use.
