Aequatian

Famous Movies

The Day the Sky Cried - A war drama about the Federban War following two individuals, a woman living within Magna Casa and an Army Infantry Officer deployed to Federban during the conflict. The film depicts, graphically, the chemical attacks on the Aequatian major cities during the peace talks and a famous incident where an Army unit prevented the destruction of a city within Federban by Marine units. One of the more patriotic war films, it has some of the best production values, especially in practical and computer-generated effects, as well as great acting on the part of Harold Black, who plays President Bomfy, in a scene where he debates retaliating against the nation of Federban using SS-18 Satan missiles armed with thermonuclear warheads in the nation's first deployment of nuclear weapons.

Ariddia

Ariddia, an underdeveloped, Third World nation, does produce films, but most of them are low-budget, often quite intellectual, and are not well known abroad. Probably the only Ariddian film to have met with critical acclaim abroad was Daybreak, adapted by Serge Feagiai from the eponymous novel by Abel Moeaki. Daybreak depicts the tentative, ultimately doomed friendship of two soldiers on opposite sides during a ferocious war. The focus of the film (as of the novel) is on the lives of the soldiers, and of civilians affected by the hostilities; the war itself is perceived as a senseless, violent, meaningless blur. Daybreak was described as powerful, moving and shocking.

Other Ariddian films include Jean-Bernard Gaspin's documentary You Say You Want a Revolution, about the 1985 election which brought about Ariddia's Social Republic, and Jane Ash's Sylvia, based on Keith Isaac's fantasy novel of the same name. Daybreak, You Say You Want a Revolution and Sylvia were all screened at the Montréal Foreign Film Festival in Kelse.

Beyond the Horizon (Valentin Lechêne and Ann Uish) is considered a masterpiece within Ariddia, but has not been exported to any significant degree. Transposing history into a cinematrographic epic, it relates the amazing voyages undertaken by Indigenous Ariddians to the Arctic in the fifteenth century. Extrapolating from archeological evidence and Indigenous oral histories, the film remains faithful to known facts, while conveying a sense of awe at the Wymgani explorers' astonishing achievements.

Popular Movies

E.S. Loves movies. There are plenty of popular films foreing or domestic, that have captured audiences

Star Wars (1977) Both Orginal and Re-edited was a smash hit in E.S. (K+)

Confednetal Confessions (2006) Now holding a place in the Montreal Film Awards, was a sleeper-hit. Becoming popular, and grossing over $500 Million. The film invloves some of lifes harshes curve-balls amongst teens. Directed by the notable female director Sofia Camrill. (R)

The Band While a critical flop, was also a high profit movie, and still loved more by the general public than the critics. Although the Motion Pictures Society of E.S. loved the film. (K+)

Storm another popular film about a small farm community threatned by harsh storms. (T)

Fantasy Quest

A 6 film fantasy series about a girl, her freinds, and their quest to obtain powerful gems, before the bad guys do. Inspired by the Lord of the Rings, but with notable diffrences. Written and Directed by Sofia Kamrill (T)

Controversial

Certian movies we're so controversial, they ended up being banned, otherwise recalled.

the Film Saw (2005) Was so graphic, that several on the film ratings board, we're sick to their stommacs. It did pass with an R18 Rating, but the Uncut version, was banned.

Hostel Another horror flick, was deemed "too much." Fans of the fim who saw it outside of E.S. begged for it's release. They did, however it was branded with and X18 Rating, even though it wasn't purley pornographic. Appeals we're rejected to turn it down to R18, but all appeals faild. The high rating killed Hostel and it was recalled.

Flight 116

A fictional story about a hijacked airliner, stired so much ruckus, it was nearly recalled. But still it was a block buster and it wasn't recalled (R)

House Hold Names

Sofia Kamrill is the most prolifc Female Director in E.S. She writes a great deal of her films, and has won several awards. Confedntal Confessions is to date her most award nominations yet.

Alex Bindiger is another great director. He's turned a few heads, but he always says You have to push the envelope every now and again.

Jim Brinkmann A well known composer. He always works with Sofia Kamrill on her picturs, and has won a Society Award (MP-Society of E.S.) for Fantasy Quest and may be nominated for Confedental Confessions

Kanami

Block Busters and the Movies the Stir

Recentally some heavy movies have stired attention either in a good way, or in a concerned way.

The now becoming infamous documentry War Mongrels alleging how the government is becoming very war hungry, and getting involved in too many wars. The tag line is a mockery of the National Motto Unity Justice, Freedom and War War WAR!!! Recived an R rating but only on appeal.

One of the most classic movies of all time is one that is always redone time and time again.

Yasashii Himura also known as Y.H. was a smash hit and held it's water at the Box Office grossing nearly $60 Million, and wining 20 diffrent awards. The film follows the life of the nation's founder from start to finish. It was first made in 1970 remade in 1980, remade again only with from diffrent aspects in 1990, and and two plots are underway to restore and master the 1970 version, and to remake it exactly from the same screenplay.

A well known studio is Teen Films Ltd. Which makes films staring, and aimed at teens. Fantasy, Drama, Romance, Adventure, everygenre has come out. But they have come under fire for often producing a fair share of heavily erotic films, or sometimes even dangerous. Sea Voyage is perhaps their most talked about yet. It features two teens (Boy Freind/Girl Friend) on a sailing trip together. It was a wild romantic journey through harsh storms, featuring nudity and innuendo. Not to mention the heavy peril involved. (Recived an MA-15 rating)

Marry-Go-Round-Silly-Go-Round

A documentry showing the repetition and redundence of the United Nations. With the endless repeals and re-written resolutions, and it's sad and mandated forces. (MA-15)

Other Non Domestic Films have stirred up Kanami like no other

the Drama A Civil Action (1998) Was block buster in Kanami. Grossing in at 3rd under Y.H. it was amongst the films to continue push Kanami into anit-capitalism. (USA) (Rated PG-13/M-13)

Roger and Me (1989) was the documentry that really stirred up the disturst against mega corperations. It sparked the Parlment to pass harsher anti-trust laws, and stricter Foreign Business Policey. (USA) (R/M-15)

Ratings (Certification)

The ratings are guidelines. If you want to watch a side'tes 18 film as 16 year old, you can. However cinemas might enforce the guidelines to avoid lawsuits.

side'tes 6: For 6 year olds and older persons.

side'tes 12: For 12 year olds and older persons. Most 'adult movies are this rating since rejistanis consider violence more dangerous than sex.

side'tes 18: For 18 year olds and older persons. Violence normally justifies at least this rating.

side'tes 21: For 21 year olds and older persons. This means the film is considered unacceptable for a general audience. Foreign horror movies often fall into this category.

Swilatia

Swilatia has one of the largest film industries in all of NS. It has produced many films, far too many to be listed here.

Ratings: Swilatia does not rate movies. However there are content descroptors on films. The dicriptors that can be given are:

  • Expilicit Language
  • Illegal Drugs
  • Crime (Note: This is limited to serious crimes. Petty crimes such as littering will not give a movie this content descriptor)
  • Violence
  • Nudity
  • Sex

While certifiactian is voluntary and has no meaning in law, certain stores/theatres will not sell movies that have not been given cotent descriptors. theatrsare frree to make their own rating systems but they are usually based on these content descriptors.

The Beltway

The film industry of The Beltway can best be described as miniscule.' It consists mostly of independent documentary filmmakers, although a few notable actors and directors attempted, in the early days of The Beltway, to establish a small-scale version of Hollywood; GeorgeWood still exists, but struggles to maintain market share, especially given the astounding rebirth of television.

Prominent films of late include "Inside MS-13," a documentary on the infamous El Salvadorean gang; "The Racers," a documentary looking at horse racing jockeys; "Corruption," a political thriller by director George Clooney; and "Innocents Abroad," a modern take on the Mark Twain book.

Ratings, although not mandated by law, are set by the MPAA Motion Picture Assosiation of America These ratings range from G (general admission) to NC-17 (no person under 17 admitted).

The Gobbo Blood Saga! is owned by pretty much anyone with a Video player or DVD player, with the exception of Gobbo Blood 2!

The Director Grotz has made his own name widely recognised with his wonderful Gobbo Blood Saga, however there are no great actors as they tend to die in film.

The Critics

"it is far more simple to impress a Gobbo than it is to shoot a fish inside a barrel!" Peter Joeson

There are no critics simply because Gobbo's love violence and any violent film is bound to have great box office returns.

West Ariddia

West Ariddia has a vibrant, active cinema industry, which produces a wide variety of films across more or less every genre. It ranges from blockbusters produced by big companies, to more intellectual, low budget, independently-produced amateur films. West Ariddian films are exported around the world.

Pirated versions are widely distributed throughout the country's communist, moneyless neighbour Ariddia. Ironically, Ariddians appear to have a particular fondness for the spy thriller Operation Redhammer, an anti-Ariddian film produced during the height of the Ariddian Cold War.
