Currently the most popular genres of modern music in Cravan lie in the various sub-genres of rock, ranging all the way from classic to metal. Among other popular genres are ska, jazz, and in some cases classical. Jazz appears to be more popular in wealthy urban settings, while rock (ska included as punk) appears throughout most of the nation along with classical.

"Classical Cravanian" music, however, draws greatly from the prominent Spanish culture in south-central Cravan. This genre mostly focuses on guitar and other string sections to drive the fast paced firey beat, while relying on percussion and wind instruments to keep a melody in the background. Oftentimes a Classical Cravanian piece is accompanied by a chorus, and commonly a single soprano soloist. For an example of a piece which falls under the Classical Cravanian genre, check here. Paradise247

The traditional music is a mixture of Polynesian, Indonesian and Caribbean influences, an effect of the country's historical status as a Dutch colony.

During the last 15 years, tourism has become increasingly important for the country's economy. The many disco's, bars, and pubs that are now present in the country (especially on the so-called "Tourist Island") have added all modern styles to the local charts. The many tourist oriented radio- , and television stations have also played a very important role in this development.

Younger generations tend to closely follow the trends in other countries, while the elderly typically prefer more traditional melodies. This obviously contributes to the "generation gap" in many households.

Fortunately, however, Paradise247's traditional style of music is not in any danger of extinction. In fact the exotic and intoxicating rhythms go very well with modern music, and the country's fledgling music industry includes a number of artists who show "great promise", according to a recent review in the internationally renowned Flying Brick magazine.
