Nelson de Montford had the misfortune to be an accomplished left-sided midfielder during the time of Thanh Madray (left-sided) and Nick Matranga (both left- and right-sided). So, during the peak years of his career, Nelson was 'relegated' to play for Starblaydia in the Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football. There as a 20 and then a 24 year-old, Nelson won two Regional titles, and after a shock in Cockbill Street for AOCAF9, was finally rewarded with a spot in the World Cup 24 squad, making four appearances.

The Club Captain of Montepool Waves for many years, Nelson's Britannican accent and slang often threw most Starblaydi fans into wondering why they were cherry-picking players from their colony.
